Am new member of this forum. Until recently I was a keen observer of another airplane die cast forum which is expanding into partisan politics and pics of naked women. I am pleased to see that this forum is more centered on the die cast hobby. Glad to be here.

welcome too! i don't visit that s**t forum anymore. not because of the naked women, but the continuous deletion of threads and posts the moment you critisize aeroclassics or anything to do with the forum. totally pathetic!!:evi l:

Mmm, partisan politics and naked women, sounds like my kind of forum. What's their URL? I'm joking of course, as if I'll leave the DAC

Welcome PlaneCompany , what sort of diecast aeroplanes do you like collecting?

Welcome to the forum! I was also a former member there, but when I posted something there that disagreed with the higher members' comment, I was PM-flamed!

They don't have any racist homophobic politics anymore. They got rid of the political forum.

Still have naked women, though.

Faheem and Todd are the owner/mods at that other site. The reason for the naked girl pics on their site is because that is as close as most of them will ever cum to seeing a real naked woman.

That forum has some great members and I've enjoyed much of my time over there, but I can't condone the post deletion thing. I can understand eliminating hurtful or destructive posts, but take away legitimate criticism and you've eliminated a big part of why some people participate. Having said that, I'm sure keeping everybody happy is not always possible.

@ Prop-Jet Electra

If valid criticism is being deleted there'll be no point in having a forum. Imagine if this forum was sponsored by Gemini Jets and you couldn't post anything negative about their models. Even worse, what if you can only post negative comments about their competitors.

Todd and Faheem are "owned" by Andrew Klein, they are his lap dogs. He rewards them with lots of free product for deleting posts unkind to Aeroclassics. If ether one of them had some balls, they would allow a more open forum.

After receiving my Gemini200 Mohawk Convair 440 I noticed the fuselage was more narrow in diameter than that of the Herpa Convairs. After looking at Convair-Liners since age 7 I can say with reasonable confidence Herpa's representation is more accurate (MOST unfortunate since the G2 has some absolutely beautiful features). Every time I look at Gemini's model I have that "something isn't right" thought and it's irritating.

So one afternoon I posted my observation in the 1:200 section of that forum and my post didn't make it to evening. I took special care not to write anything provocative or insulting - it was simply an observation. My guess would be the Gemini folks have moderator privileges and one of them deleted the post.

You know it's their forum and they have the right to run it any way they want, just as I have the right to visit and participate - or not visit and not participate - on any forum I want.

If somebody thinks there's something wrong with a model I want them to be able to post about it before I waste the money. I appreciate people helping me and I want to be able to help them in return. Having that particular post deleted did not sit well with me at all. It was time to shift my attention elsewhere.

The problem I have with the naked women on 400sh_it is it is primarily a forum for aviation model collectors. Any minors searching for a collectors forum that come across 400sh_it will also gain access to the porn it provides for the fapping pleasure of Todd, Faheem, Sal and the other sex starved members there.

Well they need to lock the thread up, only approved members over age can access it, might be the answer i think.

You do have a point, Tupe. There needs to be a special password to get to the adult section...although it's not really porn in the sense that no sexual activity is shown, just nude women.

True, the sextual activity at 400sh_it, is going on from the viewer side of the screen. Not a pretty picture.

Ah . . . forum hi-jinks.

Having previously been involved in collecting the WWII 1:72 stuff, I was involved in a number of forums that eventually went somewhat sour and then vapour. Odd experiences, really, but the post deletion thing can a real annoyance, that's for sure, especially when the post is in the better interest of all members.

I think the key to success is not to take any of this stuff too seriously, and if you don't like the place, just leave.

The deletion of postings can be annoying. As long as they are not offensive, objectionable or illegal I cannot see why they should be deleted. However I do agree the running of a forum is up to the owner. Perhaps in certain cases down to its members. A good forum should allow 'open discussion' but if the owner decides otherwise, there isn't a lot you can do about it.

Just to update my G2 Convair statement -- since Gemini is the only CV-580 game in town I ordered a North Central which was delivered today. I've got to admit it is super-sharp with lots of great details. Those details plus the big engine nacelles and substantial propellers pull attention away from the fuselage diameter. The discrepancy is slight and non-580 fans might not even notice it straightaway. I'll probably buy the Allegheny 580 as well - but for piston pleasure I'll stick with Herpa. Herpa's detail and finish isn't nearly as nice but accurate component size and shape helps the model to be convincing.

This concludes this hijacking. Please return to the subject at hand

Fo·rum (fôrm, fr-)
n. pl. fo·rums also fo·ra (fôr, fr)
1.
a. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
b. A public meeting place for open discussion.
c. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.
2. A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.
3. A court of law; a tribunal.

A forum is not a forum if open discussion is not allowed. 400sh_it is a sham forum.

Just returned to look at whats happening and its seems I did join a great group. I have been in the hobby since 89 when the first Schabak's began showing up at airports and toy stores in Europe. What first began as a casual purchase became a mild obsession every time I flew - which was many times a month. To make a long story short along came Herpa, then 400 scales, and now 500 or so models later I am still mildly obsessed with getting hold of one copy of every possible type and series of aircraft in 400 scale available. That is becoming a challenge! That is why I enjoy reading about the experiences of other hobbyists. I have been gifted a number of 200 scale models by well meaning friends, and while they are beautiful, I cannot succumb to that scale due the cost but really because of the space they would take up!!!
Finally given the various comments about the 400SH forum, I also found certain members to be aggressive or protective when it came to any challenges to AeroClassic models. I also noticed that from one day to another comments would be deleted. Don't know if other hobbyists have departed from that forum for the same reasons, but I suspect so given the comments here.

Those that did not leave 400sh were banned from the site. I was one that constantly complained about the deleted posts. So after getting tired of deleting my posts, they just deleted me.

You have to ask yourself, how credible and accurate the information that is posted there. In North Korea most of what you read is BS, because the truth is withheld.
