Finally I had some time to get at the snow on my deck on the side of my house. The deck wraps around the back of the house and I did most of it a couple weeks ago. However, I've been too busy to finish it. I regret not taking a day off to just do the damn thing before this. Four hours of solid work net me this...
(Sorry about the picture quality...camera on my phone)

It looks like you have a new fire escape path from your deck. Jeez...I wonder how long that is going to take to melt?
August...

Thanks, Nick. I tried the snow blower but the snow is packed as solid as concrete. Damn near shattered the blade! The window up in the loft (2nd picture) is where my office is located...that's where all the damn models you send me end up, haha.

2°F here this morning at 5:30. Woke up to this in the upstairs bathroom...
Looks like I'll be taking yet another day off and raking the snow off the roof. Ugh

Surely pouring petrol all over it and throwing a match would make it melt quickly.
The pictures look lovely with all that snow. Really homely and nice. I'm envious.

Dam dude. That must be some pretty wet snow you got there. Hopefully the crack is mostly superficial due to temporary settling of one of the roof trusses. I would be calling the builder or someone to find out how much load-bearing was designed into the roof.
Everyone is having problems this year...water damage, roofs bowing in or collapsing. An inspector came in earlier to check things out...boy they're making a ton of money this year. Everything seems to be OK. The house settled a bit under the weight. Hopefully by the end of this winter it'll just be a bit of quick patchwork to fix those cracks...

Up here I took the day off last Wednesday (I had no choice) after the Media and my fellow Canadians made a big whoop over a measly dump of snow. Calling it "The biggest snowstorm in years". It was downright embarassing.
