Default 'What are you happy about'

I'm happy that my niece gave birth to twin boys and that my dad's operation was a success. I also enjoyed my family visiting over the holidays and that the Green Bay Packers made it to the playoffs.

Lets see. Well I should be good at this since I am supposedly the smiliest/happiest person according to my friends. Apparently I smile too much.

-My 2nd oldest cousin of 3 First Cousins has just announced he proposed to his Girlfriend and she said yes. So I will be in Calgary for another Wedding soon!

-I have found an Inflight200 KLM Asia 747-400 at a reasonable price. HERE in Toronto! Hoping to pick it up on the weekend.

-I finally got around to putting some items on eBay.

-Some of the water that has been stuck in my left ear for the past 72 hours is draining.

-I have some good photos from my recent spotting trips.

I'm pleased my youngest daughter got engaged Christmas Eve, one step closer to getting her out of my house. Her fiance is a good guy, so this is a very nice development. We have a new car I'm happy with (an 18-wheeler smashed our Equinox, but my wife is ok, which also makes me happy), a Hyundai Elantra Touring with a standard shift...kinda sporty in a poor man's sort of way.

Good way to start off the year Steve.

My most recent happiness is courtesy of my 2 favorite football teams going to the playoffs - the Chiefs and Seahawks. Nice change from the pathetic showings of both teams the past few years.

Overall I am quite happy that my kids and I are healthy and able to pay the bills.

Went to a local hobby store which trades diecasts, kits, books etc and I got 22 Fine Scale Modeller magazines (2008, 2009 and 2010 editions but all great reading) for AUD$10.00, two rare 1/72 kits for $18.00 and 2 great reference books on the F-16 and F-15 for $9.00 and a 1/400 airport foil which is 7ft long and 3ft wide for free.
Glad I got out of bed!

FSM is a great magazine. They have wonderfully helpful articles and feature some amazing models by really talented people. I have three years of earlier editions (2005, 06 and 07).

Yup, FSM is a top mag and I generally read them from cover to cover and then keep them all as reference material for later use. I have a stack about 2ft high so far.
Only problem is they end up costing me money as there are so many kits I see and go "yeah I need to have that one and a couple of those oh and that one too.....etc" and a few hundred bucks worth of kits bang onto the doorstep shortly after.
I have a magazine fettish and bought a FSM subscription so I will never miss an edition now.

Hmm...

-American Idol is back on the 19th with, IMO, more suitable judges than Paula or Simon. Their will also be a music video challenge and a "night at an award ceremony" challenge which is pretty cool.

-Ford's 2012 Focus is coming out in the spring, so I can give her a test drive.

-I absolutely love my graphic design course at college.

-I have enough money to purchase personal fitness training and I'm eager to put forth the effort.

Oops thought it was 2012 and wrote something silly...

Cool What am I happy about?

My wife says I'm a crank old man. Who? Moi? Geez, I'm the good-natured one in this marriage (she's gotten cranky over the recent years, but I may have been the cause). So I'm happy:
  • I'll be 62 this year and healthier than my parents at this age and apparently healthier even than my younger siblings.
  • My cardiologist is happy with my progress (not an easy task to make this guy happy).
  • I don't smoke, drink, gamble, chase wild women or eat too much.
  • I have the complete "Battle 360/Dogfights", "Band of Brothers" and "Lexx" DVDs to watch.
  • I have Steve in Louisiana as a good friend. Maybe I'll meet him some day along with a few others here on DAC.
  • I'm enjoying a nice mug of coffee.
  • and most of all... I have the best little wife in the world that somehow still puts up with me after 29 years.

My band is officially signed up for Battle of the Bands. 8 Weeks left!
We need to re-schedule some practices but all is good. We will perform in mid March, I'll try and get someone to take a video.

A friend of mine has been incredibly generous and is sending me a 1/72 scale model kit of the very beautiful B-1B Lancer.
It's the only big bomber I didn't have in 72scale but now I do and I'm chuffed to bits [...insert Snoopy happy feet dance...].
It's going to look brilliant sitting alongside my B-52D, B-58, B-2 and XB-70A.

Thankyou Friend of Mine!

Coach Tom Cables of the Oakland Raiders just got fired last night and again, it's another patent "Al Davis" move. The Raiders went 6-0 in your Chiefs division and while Oakland had some real bumps in the road, I thought they were progressing just fine. Also, with the collective bargaining agreement unresolved, it would have been wise to keep the same coach.

The Patriots are a class act and I consider them the dynasty team of the 2000s. Can't say much for their helmet design, but the chiseled patriot on your aircraft looks top notch.

It will be interesting to see the new congress attempt to clean up a back log of items/issues so we can see more clearly to our future.

You are most welcome, Steve. I've been waiting to see what the display would look like and I'm really jazzed, it looks so good!

Glad to hear your dad is out and about. He sounds like a tough bird, doing yard work so soon after surgery...but I'd bet he's old school, can't just lay around, that's for wimps.

The Hyundai is my wife's idea, she wanted a smaller car since we don't camp anymore (we like the hotels too much..) and don't need the bigger SUVs. She also likes standard shift, so do I, so this worked out for us, especially since we could afford to pay cash for it so no note.
