Default Has Airliners Magazine Folded?

Does anyone know the status of Airliners Magazine? I know they were purchased by another company and, since last fall I have not received a current copy from them.

Since I still have a year left on my subscription, I tried to contact them on their website, which now does not come up. I then called them and was told I needed to talk to a Donna and was put to an answering machine and, of course, my call has not been returned.

Are they folding?

Their website shows the magazine cover for March/April '07. There are also a whole bunch of additional contacts shown. Check it out:

The website was down when I first made this post. Further, I had made two phone calls to them only getting a recorded message and my requests for a return call not occuring.

Yesterday, I again called and got the answering machine and rather bluntly asked whether the magazine had folded (there is an irony in that question) and received a reply this morning from a young lady representing the magazine.

She stated that they had address label problems with the January/February mailing and that they would be refunding my money for that issue. I was informed that they could not simply send me the January/February issue instead.

The excuses seemed as flaky as all the snow that currently surrounds us here but I will have to wait to see if I receive another issue.

I bought the Jan/Feb 2007 at a local newsstand here in San Diego ... so they still are around.

Hope you get compensated!

Same here, only mine arrived by mail (I have a subscription). It looks like they're here to stay for at least the next few months.

I wonder why they changed their magazine around? I looked at the JAN/FEB 2007 issue at our local Borders and it seems a lot different than in the past.

The new versions TITLES look awful ... looks like a generic magazine like VOGUE now ... even POPULAR MECHANICS looks ten times better!

Take a look again. The tall, thin title affords a much better cover picture than the old titling with its graphics. It's a great mag.

they have some serious problem with the new print services/company. Even the cutting of the pages is not up to the quality. layout, fonts, sizes, themes, etc.

I've been concerned about the quality of AIRLINERS myself. I can't put my finger on it but I sense that the writing quality and subject matter are not as well presented as they used to be. Now we get lots of small articles about obscure airlines which seem written by their PR departments. Sure, a broad spectrum of commercial aviation needs to be covered but I'm planning to let my subscription lapse.

well, Airliners will be missed as it was before. I had few magazines from the past and they were in many ways better than the one mentioned above.

Too darn bad!!!!

I'd like to hear your comments about why you aren't man enough to start your own thread by first introducing yourself and providing some basic facts about your relationship with the magazine. Until you do that, I will call you Willy.

Maybe you should follow Steve's Advice and make a Thread Stating what Business you have with Airliner Magazine along with all your Questions and such, Instead of digging up 3 year old threads to provide us with Random Information about the Magazine.

I'd like to know what happened to the remaining portion of my 2 year subscription ( 10 issues left ) and the last magazine I received was about 4 months ago stating it was my last issue. Tried to contact by phone and e-mail numerous times, of course all to no avail as no one ever answers the phones, never returns messages left on voice mail, and never responds to emails. Finally gave up

Jason... I'm working with Jim Klug to get a fresh thread dedicated to those of you interested in the magazine. I've already forwarded your concern to the subscriptions department, and we should get to the bottom of it monday. Please revisit the conversation in the new thread. I'll post the link here next. Thanks!

Red face Re: Has Airliners Magazine Folded?

I doubt the magazine is in business. I renewed my subscription online on May 5, 2010 not having been a member here. I was unaware of any problems. However, since reading the posts here, I have called and sent emails to the magazine and have received no replies so my conclusion is that the magazine is out of business. Of course, my money was not returned to me nor have I received any magazines.

Thanks
David

dir 1944 ... watch for a new thread here re: AirlinersMag, probably Monday. The Mag is alive... if you renewed in May, the next issue is just now on press (we're bi-monthly). You should get a call back Monday. The mag has been in continuous print since 1988. I'll provide a link to the new thread here once it's up.
