Default The Perfect Landing Restaurant

While visiting family near Denver this past week, my sister and her husband took me to lunch at The Perfect Landing Restaurant, Centennial Airport. They know I'm an aviation enthusiast.

The restaurant sits atop the terminal building and the close-in view of the busy general aviation airport is impressive and nostalgic. Afterwards, we walked to the Jet Center building where the Pilot Shop is located.

Thank you for sharing these lovely photos with us Steve. The story behind our fellow collectors is at least as interesting as the discussions about the models themselves.

And indeed, every airport should have a restaurant with a view on the apron. I live near Brussels National Airport (EBBR), and we currently have one (I think) "public" restaurant with a view on the tarmac (photo), and several other restaurants also with a view, but these are located in the gate areas themselves and thus only accessible for outbound passengers.

I hope you had a good meal there too.

Cheers, deephalo.

My pleasure. I agree that more of our fellow collectors should contribute their aviation related happenings with photos. I'm always interested in that.

Since 911, security has had a lousy impact on people who just want to dine at airport restaurants. As you said, most are located in gate areas that are inaccessible to the public.

I like the interior of the restaurant you posted. The seating partitions look like aircraft piston engine crankshaft counterweights and the ceiling kind of has the appearance of box wing construction.

The meal was excellent.

Reagan National's Legal Seafood is accessible to the general public and has views of the action. Will see if I have a few pics to post.

Nice that your family took you for an aviation related lunch and for spotting!

Steve, the Perfect Landing was a regular haunt during my MANY visits to KAPA over my 15 year career as a corporate pilot. What's funny is we never used JetCenter- always TACAir or XJet. I still had to go have lunch/dinner over there, though.

Back in the day, the Piano Man would be rockin', the drinks would be flowin', and fun we'd be havin'!

I think even a DAC post or 12 were made from the bar.

That's great that you got to visit such a revered place.

That's excellent you made KAPA/Perfect Landing your regular haunt. And I can imagine the times you had there. If I'm not mistaken, it's the busiest general aviation airport in the country. Also, has many politicians, movie stars and the like going through there. I saw the Denver Broncos training camp near it.

Steve, the "Busiest GA Airport" distinction goes to KVNY-Van Nuys just west of Burbank, CA. Followed by my old home base; KDVT-Phoenix Deer Valley. But APA and DVT are nearly tied for 2nd.

Dis you see the Key Lim Metro/Cirrus-SR-22 midair collision that took place at APA last month?

I just saw a few videos on that midair collision. Took me a bit to figure out who was who as I was looking at the radar presentations. The Cirrus pilot was at fault for not visually keeping an eye on Key Lime and then drifting into Key Lime's approach. He ought to have been keeping his head on repeated 180 turns but got lazy in my opinion. Still, amazing how both pilots kept their cool. Didn't know Cirrus aircraft could deploy a parachute. For the Key Lime pilot, I'd buy him a well deserved meal at Perfect Landing.

I've been here before! Not for a while though, I do fly out of Centennial so I pass the restaurant quite often!

There's a nice restaurant at KVNY, 94th Aero Squadron.
