Hello Neil,

You mentioned the E30 quite a while ago while we were talking about our other hobbies in another thread. It was certainly a nice car - the way a E30 (beside M3 Evo and Co.) should look like. You sadly don't see many of these on the roads these days.

I would have shed a tear too to see it go.

About the ZIL 118, I read somewhere that there was only one of them in use as a CSU-unit at the Moskow Milytsia. I think the model was part of some Altaya/DelPrado/Amercom series about soviet cars.

For 1/43, that's a real steal. Great job!

You took very good care of your E30. Love that classic design. That's before manufacturers started chopping the top for a low profile design. Feels very confined in a lot of these newer cars.

That series of Russian vehicles are amazing. They’re available on Amazon at cheap prices. I intend to get more of them.

Ref my E30, I look at it this way, at least I got to own the car I always wanted, and I’m grateful for that

That ZIL 118 was a fascinating vehicle. A ZIL which found its way onto a Soviet apron of long ago, was the beauty pictured below.

Thanks. Sometimes I’d just go out for a drive about. The ride and handling was excellent.

My main hobby is photographing emergency vehicles, from police cars to fire trucks and ambulances, The last 10 years have seen police departments changing liveries from the Crown Victoria ages. Also, I may or may not live around the block from the county courthouse which sees police cars from all over the county visiting daily(not so much during Covid times when video conferencing is a huge thing..)

Hi Doug. It would appear to be the predecessor ZIL118 to that represented by my model. This earlier design pictured was in production from 1962 to ‘67.

Don't forget your Porsches. Here are six early Porsches in 1/43 scale. I was stationed in Verdun, France from 1961 to 1964, and three-day passes got us to numerous sportscar and formula 1 races - I saw many of these cars run. Also featured front and center on the book cover is Graham Hill, a big deal during that period. Got 18 1/43 Porsches in my collection. Later, Doug
