Default Man Cave Monday

Just spent a couple weeks swapping rooms for my dork stuff. Obviously, it's not all done, but I'm reaching the finish line.

I've seen some pretty spectacular setups over the years from fellow DAC'ers. Post up!

Well done and well executed.. Your display shelves are first class all the way. Interesting too, this may be one of the few times (though I do it with some of mine) where all the planes are viewed from the right side...

Thanks, Russ. They are just Billy's from IKEA. They have a sale right now for like, $40 for the white ones, so I bought this setup and painted them black. The lights are from amazon.

Don't ever attempt to paint IKEA furniture , lest you want to lose you damn mind. Funny you mention that. I had them this way on my other room and debated switching over to display the port side, but my two Delta Belle L-1011's have the nose art on the starboard side, and my OCD won't let me display some facing left and some facing right.

Thanks man. The drums were actually what motivated the room swap as I didn't have enough room in the first one. I had to remove a closet, and redo all the sheetrock to give me all the space I needed.

I'm a huge Pumpkins fan and Jimmy Chamberlin is my favorite drummer. I tried his setup of racking a floor tom and putting it left of the snare and wound up loving it and sticking with 3-up-1-down. The Mapex Armory is a great kit for the money and the finish on the shells is flawless.

It's the Herpa An-225, rest are DW.

Here are also a few of my oddball customs: Frontier MD-80's, and CO/PE hybrid

My buddy Jim. He hired on with Hughes AirWest in '75 here in SLC and "acquired" pretty much every check-in counter logo and gate sign from any airline that either ceased ops, seased flying to SLC, or updated their look. His garage is incredible.

Good eye, they are all SLC. The B and W on the right is from 1983, color on left is 1985, and two smaller ones in the middle are 1988. It's my hometown airport.

Very nice! I'm inching closer to finishing my office/museum. I'll have to see if I can get my brother to take some pics for me to post. He collects everything aviation, except actual aircraft.

Excellent layout Dylan. Even with regular room lighting, the black shelves you painted offer the best contrast for viewing your collection. Love the DWs. Also like the Northwest Orient sign as well as the airport pictures.

Danny Seraphine is among my favorite group drummers. I enjoy the jazz embellishments he added to Chicago's songs. In fact, Chicago was the first concert I attended in '71. Hal Blaine gets my nod for best session drummer. Enjoyed interviews of both on Joe Chamber's Musicians Hall of Fame podcast on Youtube.

Fazeman, Hal Blaine is a legend. Nothing else needs to be said. Seraphine is like a predecessor to Chamberlin; jazz drummer-turns-rock band drummer. That's why I enjoy Chamberlins style so much. He brings the nuance and articulation of Jazz, and converts it to modern hard rock.

Thanks for the comment, that's the contrast I was going for!

I have one cabinet in the guest room with aircraft staged Airside. The rest all Portside. The odd hodgepodge of stuff is because this is temporary storage to protect them from two kittens my fiancé brings over. The case has wooden frame magnetic glass doors.

Doesn't matter. Sooner, later...as long as the intention is there!

Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about the side that was showing when I set this up. I was just going for uniformity. Also, I was probably inebriated.
