Default Formula 1 - 2020 Season

Anyone following Formula 1?

The 70th Anniversary Gran Prix was an awesome one to watch. Mercedes revealed somewhat of an Achilles Heel, at least for the Red Bull team.

Sadly, there will not be Gran Prix in the United States this season due to the pandemic.

Who is your favorite Team / Driver?

I just started watching F1 this year after a friend and the F1 video games got me into it. I have taken a liking to Lando Norris and can't wait for him to be joined by Ricciardo next year and for them to have the Mercedes engine. I've also liked Vettel ever since he appeared on Top Gear in 2011.

Edit: I've also started collecting airliners with F1 liveries in 1:200 scale. So far, I have the Etihad 787 and the AirAsia A320 on the way. Really hoping to get the Etihad A340 and the Qantas 747 added to the collection.

Great post, and awesome to hear people on this forum also enjoy F1. I got into F1 during the 2017 season, but had been a Michael Schumacher Ferrari fan ever since I was a kid. It's a shame that Covid delayed the 2021 reg changes to 2022. I admire Mercedes' pure dominance, but I think we need a shake up of things to make some of the races more interesting.

I used to be a big Ferrari fan, mostly because I am a Vettel fan as well. But the way that they have treated a 4x WDC just doesn't sit well with me. I don't want to see Vettel retire, and really hope the rumors surrounding his move to Racing Point (Aston Martin) prove to be true. He has the talent and skill still, but clearly does not have a support system helping him succeed. On the flip side you have Ferrari's new golden boy LeClerc, and it is beginning to look more and more like either he is able to handle that crap Ferrari car, or Vettel's set up is not comparable to LeClerc.

I am a big Norris and Ricciardo fan, and with Mclaren switching over to Mercedes engines in 2021, I think that team will continue its ascent. The midfield battle has been the more exciting aspect of the sport for the past two years now... Now that Ferrari cannot challenge Mercedes, and only Red Bull occasionally, I find myself watching the midfield more. It was great to see Hulkenberg back in a race (and actually start this weekend), and in a competitive car.

I bet Sainz is kicking himself in the teeth signing for Ferrari when Mclaren are on the rise and support their drivers.

I am a Red Bull fan, so I was happy to see Verstappen take first at the 70th Gran Prix. I hope Albon scores his first podium win very soon. The critics are like sharks, but pretty soon He will have to earn some better results. Impressive drive on the past two races from the backfield. I also wondered how Sainz is feeling about his future role with Ferrari, but they have made the podium twice which is pretty good considering their car is nowhere near it's potential. I hope Vettel gets out of the backfield soon. I have a soft spot for Haas, considering what they can do with such a limited budget, or maybe it's the fierce side of Guenther F'in Steiner!

As for diecast airliners and F1, I think it would be cool if airlines like Qantas, British Airways, and KLM had a special livery featuring F1 drivers who drive under that country's flag. Picture Daniel Ricciardo's big grin on a Qantas special F1 Livery, or Max Verstappen on a KLM jet! I will be on the lookout for F1 Liveries now, and DHL freighters.

The Italian Gran Prix, what a race! I am so happy for Gasly, Sainz, and Stroll, The whole race was very entertaining! Bummer that Verstappen's car didn't work out, and Leclerc crashed, i worried that he was hurt when it happened.

There's a nice Gulf Air A330-200 in Bahrain F1 livery that you might like.
