Hi Kevin,

the luck is not that the warehouse is close to Nagoya but that you are living in Hong Kong as Japanese Post has suspended acceptance of EMS and Air Mail to 156 countries. So therefore mail for excepted countries of this suspension could be handled much more quicker.

If you would actually stay in Paris or San Francisco then you would have to wait like me in Europe till the Japan Post will accept again mail to these countries and this could be the case only in many weeks.

Regards,
Wolfgang

..... Wife had another problem. She sent a card to one of her sisters in Indonesia. It came back as "undeliverable as addressed". She wrote the correct address, checking by e-mail with another sister. Also took two months to be returned. Sheeeesh!

My Inflight model ordered in early March from HKG just showed up. I had to repurchase it again having been already refunded by the seller weeks ago!

I purchased from WestMain Toys in Hong Kong at the beginning of April and still haven’t received any shipment notifications yet. I just emailed them this evening so hopefully I get good news.
Also ordered from Diecast Trading in The Netherlands over 3 weeks ago and it just arrived today.

It goes against my nature, but I'm trusting that all of my purchases that have yet to arrive will make it here eventually.
I did, however, open a case on greedbay on an item that was shipped from Melbourne. It has been months and tracking still doesn't say that it left Australia. That is the outlier of about half a dozen packages coming from various countries.

My personal experience, as someone from Belgium (sorry for that ), is that ordering parcels in the United Status generally never takes more than 5 to 7 days in order to arrive on Belgian soil. Even now with the Corona. I see freighter planes passing just before my window every hour, and a lot of them coming from LAX. They even now use passenger planes with just their belly filled with parcels. However, how long it takes before you, as the customer, receiving this parcel completely depends on who was delivering it.

For Belgians, the rule is very simple, avoid at all costs the Belgian national postal service bPOST. When receiving parcels coming from non-European countries, they hand it over to the Belgian customs services (part of the Ministry of Finances) in order to do the clearing. As from that moment, one of the following scenario's is applicable :
  • Your parcel will get lost.
  • Your parcal wil get stolen.
  • Your parcel will finally undergo a clearing procedure, but in most cases that will happen after at least one month.

Very often, clearing only starts after the receiver having complained multiple times (because they never answer) by email and asking why it takes so long. Without any effort from the receiver, parcels can easily stay for several months in the customs warehouse.

So I learned, whenever ordering something from outside of Europe, I always try to be sure to have it delivered using DHL, UPS, FedEX or whatever kind of private postal company, as long as they perform themselves the customs clearing procedure. Normally this always goes relatively fast, because they have no interest in keeping parcels. The Belgian customs, however, are government officials, which in Belgium is too often equivalent to "lazy", "slow", "fraudulent" and "incompetent". So for the United States, USPS is out of the question. Nothing wrong with them (I think), but once in Belgium, the parcel is automatically handed over to bPOST, and there the nightmare starts...

I'm curious to know if this story is recognizable and comparable with your experiences in the countries you live in.

ScaleModelStore.com uses BPost and it is generally pretty quick. The last order from them was March 13, and that time it took over 10 weeks (71 days).

To which country did they deliver?

If it is a country in Europe, there is generally no problem, even with bPOST, since scalemodelstore is physically based in The Netherlands, and parcels between two "schengen" countries do not pass customs clearance.

Of course, the experience I described typically talks about inbound deliveries into Belgium from non-European countries.

I also have positive experiences with scalemodelstore. :-)

I have noticed that DHL is amazingly fast for packages coming to the US from outside countries.

The irony of my last purchase is that the model itself was a DHL aircraft.

Did you receive an answer ?
Recently they have been very very busy with some misterious stock sorting. It's probably due to a very imminent change of location. Even on their WhatsApp they need a few days to answer...
Do you have their WhatsApp ? If no answer by email you should try there. And keep insisting every day untill they answer. They guy managing the WhatsApp is one of the only 2 speaking English I think 😀

EDIT...
A friend just told me that she could not send parcels to Europe from HK last week. It seems that they have momentarily suspended shipping oversea parcels. That might explain why ...but still, you should asked them again and again untill they answer. Nicely of course 🤪but we are all nice people, aren't we?

An item I bought from a seller in Australia on 4 April was finally delivered last Wednesday, 17 June. But it was delivered to Seattle and I've since moved to London. Now my friend needs to forward it to me here. I wonder how long that will take?

so basically the delays continue...

I just ordered and paid for a model from Crosswing Japan and when they took my parcel to the post office to mail it, the post office said no shipments are going to the US and was told not sure when...

Why would there be no outbound shipments from Japan to USA???

Dated June 18:

https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/in.../overview.html

Google Translate: "We would like to inform you that there was a notification from each postal business through the Universal Postal Union (UPU) due to the spread of new coronavirus infection. (Including some notifications of handling status in Japan.)
Also, due to worldwide flight reductions, etc., delivery may be delayed in countries/regions not listed below.
The information may be changed depending on the future situation, so we will update the information whenever there is a change."

Hi,

it was the same for me here in Europe.
I purchased one model on ebay on 12.5. but after many weeks of reading the news of Japan Post (https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/in.../index_en.html) daily I decided for shipping by DHL which was the only operating courier service to Europe.

This cost me USD 3 more and because of customs clearance by DHL I had to pay also the double collecting/handling fee (USD 20) than Austrian post will charge me plus 20% import tax of course of total amount (model price + shipping).

Since 19.6. Austria is deleted from the suspension list but still to 140 countries/territories Japan Post will not ship and therefore acceptance of such mails will be rejected.

So please check if DHL or any service is currently shipping to the US if you will not wait some more weeks for your model.

Regards,
Wolfgang

The Japanese post office has suspended international mail. I bought something from Japan last week (not a model) and the only option was DHL. It would normally take two days, DHL estimated five business days, and it arrived in three days.

I never saw what the original price was going to be. It simply said that Japan Post is not accepting packages. I just knew it was $55 or something all in. If I had to take a guess, they probably charged me $25. It wasn’t an expensive item. Keep in mind though that some people ship enough to get very good discounts because the retail rate on DHL/UPS/FedEx International is astronomical so not everyone may be able to even offer it where it would be considered by the buyer.

Can anyone advise me of how long it usually takes to ship from New York to the UK using USPS. It was shipped from Fairfield NJ by the Airplane Shop on the 15th June and the tracking stopped on the 22nd still in NY. Not a peep since then.

I could not tell you for NJ to the UK but I did order a model from The Airplane Shop NJ 2 weeks ago. They posted it the same day I ordered (a Saturday) and it arrived in HK the following Tuesday or Wednesday and was delivered to me on Friday morning. They send First-Class small packets so the tracking info is not always very detailed nor at every step. The parcel spent a couple of days in NJ (Kearny / Jamaica distributions center) and in HK airport. Once the parcel has been sent by JFK'international mail center to the carrying airline, you will see the mention "DEPARTED" on the USPS center.

I think for the moment you should not worry as you seem to be in the normal delivery range.

I have another First Class parcel sent from California on June 9th, arrived at LAX facility on the same day, then no info until the 13th ("in transit"). The next info was " Processed through facility"... in CANADA ! 2 days later. Then it spent 8 days in Richmond BC, Canada> During that time I almost got no notification from USPS (but got them from the Canada Post tracking). On 26th of June, finally a notification....my parcel arrived... in LAX ?!
Since then no news...
So I guess, with Firs Class we have to be patient since there are not so many flights these days and that type of mail is far behind Priority mail and Priority Mail express in terms of priority...I've read somewhere on the USPS website it can be up to 5 weeks (in normal times).
Hope you will receive it soon. Let us know

I just talk to my friend in London who ordered two times @ The Airplane Store. He told me it took 2 weeks for the first one to be delivered and 4 weeks for the second one. Yours should arrive soon

Well 28 days after purchase I got my hands on it, but only after paying import duty of £13. Good job I got the model at a bargain price.
