Default L-1011-Heavy?

So, a couple of weeks ago, I PM'ed L-1011 Heavy asking about updating the list he published of specific 1/400 models that have suffered zinc rot problems. Have a few additions to add, but no reply. On further checking, I see his last appearance on DA.C was 08-18-2015. Anyone have any information on him? He was an active participant here... Over, Doug

I was wondering about him too, recently. He used to type in full CAPS all the time. I met him at a Toronto model fair back in 2008 and traded a GJ Wardair A310 model for a bottle of something strong and tasty he'd bought along. Haven't seen him post anything here for years.

Aboslutely heartbreaking news! Way too young! Rick had a wonderful, delf-deprecating sense of humor and great wit. Very sad to hear this news. I'd assumed that, like a lot of members on here, he'd moved on to another forum, or moved on in general.

Rip Rick. You, and your wonderful mustache will be missed.

In honor of Rick's memory, I WILL BE TYPING IN ALL CAPS FROM NOW ON.

Sad and so young!

Wonder what the cause of death was? Had he been ill, accident, something sudden?

Everything I was able to find was clipped and brief with no mention of particulars. The family knows what happened, and we don't need to. For me, it's weird how a guy who was active and well liked on the forum just disappeared without a trace, and it's been four years and nobody asked after him, myself included. It kind of puts this hobby in perspective as only a hobby, and nothing we should take that seriously. Onward and Upward, Doug

Thanks for letting us know Doug. That's very sad at such a young age. He was a great contributor and collector.

Unhappy Very Sad News.

That's really sad news. Way too young. Never knew him or interacted with him, as I came here too late, but certainly know his posts very well, which were always so knowledgeable and informative. His passion for the hobby was always clear and he made so much effort in articulating his points about quality and accuracy, which were valid.

Doug's right, the way somebody can just disappear like that and be forgotten, is extremely sad and speaks volumes. There is more to look at here than just our models.

Also, I believe that he always typed the FIRST letter only in capitals, not whole words...

It Went Like This, Very Unusual And Noticeable, Many Couldn't Understand This Quirk, But It Was His Distinct Trademark On This Forum. You Would Recognise Who Had Posted Right Away, Without Even Looking At The Username Or Avatar. It Was Unique.

Never Knew You, Rick, But Rest In Peace Buddy, A Big Loss To The Community

I'm sorry to here about Rick's passing. At the time he stopped posting, I thought he moved on to other interests. Because in reality, there are few people who would say I quit DAC. A lot of members fade away but that doesn't mean I forget them.

Rick had an eye for these models. Especially with color variations as compared to the real aircraft. And I appreciated his input whether I agreed or disagreed. Unfortunately, he took an insane amount of criticism for his opinions. Probably the most of any member outside of participating manufactures.

God rest your soul Rick.

Gosh, how incredibly sad to hear of Rick's passing. Yes a very witty, and self deprecating fellow and it was good to meet him at that Toronto show, 12 years ago. And yes (Barison82) you are right about his quirk of capitalising every first letter in a word, I had somehow remembered that as being all capitals, but as said it's been a long time since he regularly posted around here. 56.. no age at all, same age my dad passed.

RIP Rick.

It really is sad news. Also, very sorry to hear about your dad mate. My mum passed when she was 51; as you said, it's no age at all.

Sorry to hear that, same age as my mum went too. In fact her early demise had a huge bearing on said passing of the old man. Life's no rehearsal as they say and we all need to enjoy the time we have and take care of ourselves and those we love. More so in the current situation.

Crikey, so very sorry to hear that you lost both parents so early Very strange coincidence with their age. Losing a soulmate is such a tragic blow, I can't imagine how hard it must have been. Absolutely. There really are no guarantees in this world. Making the most of the time we have right now, looking after ourselves and our loved ones, is so vitally important.
