Default Covid-Selling of Planes

How many collectors are sadly having to sell their planes for whatever reason (income, panic, hopelessness, not important to you, etc.) as it relates to the Covid Pandemic?

I have noticed more planes that are sought after being listed at low prices for quick sale!

Not me, i'm going to die with all my die-cast airplane models by my side!!

I'm taking them all with me to the grave, so that i can still play with them in the afterlife.. same as what the ancient Egyptians did in the past with their prized possessions..

I am not selling any. My portfolio has taken a beating with everyone else that it's just too painful to even look at but my income will be okay.

I'm hoping the panic will begin to calm over the next week. The aftermath of this will of course be felt for much, much longer. I told my 7 year old this week that there is a chance we will all get sick and it definitely won't be fun but none of us are high risk so relax. I also told her that there is a lot of fear and anxiety right now over jobs but we're going to be okay.

Part of me always wanted to be a pilot. I always enjoy jumpseating and it always makes me wonder what life would have been like had I chosen a different path. Oh and those five figure profit sharing bonus checks would certainly make you wonder. But, at the end of the day, I realize how fortunate I am to be part of this industry without the cyclical roller coasters that so many have to go through.

It is spring time so I'm going to eat lunch and then do some much needed yard work. A coworker asked me this week if I wanted to pickup an extra shift from him. I said absolutely not. I don't really want to expose myself anymore than I have to.

All the planes that I have in my collection are from airlines that will survive this crisis.. It such a shame that this happens but don't keep your head down, everything will be all-right..

Definitely not selling any of mine. In fact, I'm still buying, but in much reduced numbers and I'm very careful with choices I make when I buy.

It's definitely a buyer's market and I have been adding a few! Hopefully to people that are in need of money.

..... I'll sell, but not due to any virus-related reasons. My thought is... what a pain it must be for anything to get through customs these days. I would be reluctant to sell if package has to cross an international border with delays I'd imagine going into place.
Dave (of course I may be wrong about that customs thing)

I am at 8 and holding so yes you are ahead of me! I am on the hunt for the Herpa NASA Super Guppy and yes I know there is one on ebay but unrealistically priced.

As for prices, I am not seeing any give away pricing and quite surprised that prices are remaining steady. Just look at what that AN 225 brought in close to $1,000.00

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"

..... My AN-225 (and AN-124 for that matter) aren't going anywhere. I sold six models just before the hysteria, none since.

Yeah, I would hang on to those Russians!

Crownvic, I saw the Guppy on Ebay and was going to post the link, but figured you had already seen it! Have to keep searching for some of the deals...some are still asking way too much as usual!

The guy with the AN225 sold another for $1,300 as someone else mentioned! Makes me wonder as I was looking at sellers feedback and there is some negative. I guess buyers are protected, but still I hope those transactions go smooth for them!

I'm up to 12 now...will probably go into a holding pattern unless I see 2 I can't resist! Why 2...funny you should ask...don't want it to rest at 13, yes superstitious!

..... One of the six models I sold just before the pandemonium was an Iraqi IL-76. I still have an Iraqi IL-76 plus two others: CAAC and PLAAF.
..... I also have several IL-18, Li-2 and a CAAC Ty-154. In 1/200 scale I have an Aeroflot and a DDR Lufthansa AN-2s.
.... Not that likely I'll part with any of them right now.

The shedding of planes from collectors continues in mass on-line! Added a few others...one of which is the SMA 1:200 Delta MD-11 Widget with "MD-11" on tail. This completes my Delta SMA MD-11 fleet of 4! Was a steal at $85!
