Default 'Bullitt' Ford Mustang sold for $3.4 million!

Steve McQueen's Bullitt' Ford Mustang sold at auction for $3.4 million! Wow! That's an outstanding price for this unique 1968 Ford Mustang. Plenty of history and backstory to this Mustang over the years. Guessing the new owner will put it back in a garage for safe keeping? Cheers! T7

I hope the purchaser of this Mootang brings it back to its former glory. I was shocked to hear his mom used it as a daily driver!

Yeah, it was a daily driver, which is pretty neat. As the car came from the movie, it was fairly dinged up anyway, and it still did fabulously well at auction - happy ending. Doug

I was on the auction stage side the entire time for that sale ...it was an incredible event . Here are shots of it driving right by me prior to auction and driving off after auction sale ....I also have it all in video too but can’t figure out how to post them...

That is priceless! I wonder if those were tears of joy of scooping up $3.4 million dollars or having to part with a one of a kind Mustang?

I think they were tears of "I am rich and don't have to work ever again". If she drove the car daily, she obviously didn't value the car as a collectible. Does anyone know what the bidding started at? I heard this family bought the car for $3000 which for that era was a high price to pay for a used car.

Nice, but I'd rather have that Charger that the baddies were driving.

The bidding started at $3,500 but escalated to $3M within three minutes.

once it hit $3 million the bidding stalled and the auctioneer had to work hard for that last 500,000 it took several minutes..

You should have raised your Auction Bidding Paddle to jump-start things again! That place must have been rocking to see that Mustang go for $3.5 million. Did that Mustang fetch the highest bid for that day?

It was the highest of the show..
2019 McClaren Senna and 2015 Porsche 918 spyder were next at $1,430,000.00 each.

Probably tears of happiness from the lady in the passenger seat! I would rather have the Charger as well.

Back in the early 80's I had a chance to buy a real deal 68 Shelby GT 500 for $8K from a small used performance car lot in Fairfax VA. It was in good shape. That was crazy money back then! If one could only see far into the future!

I decided to get a used 74 Trans AM SD-455 instead!. Was half the price. Bought it from a Xerox copier repair man. When I went to look at it there were a bunch of empty toner cartrides on the back floor with toner all over the place and it was 4 1/2 quarts low on oil! She was a screamer once I went through it and brought her back from the Xerox abuse!
