Oh yeah - sometimes USPS likes to take a package on a world tour, but so far, all my packages have eventually landed successfully. Nothing ever lost so far, including international... And I have not encountered any crappy attitudes either, but I'm a low-volume shipper. Doug

Funny because I only have issues with UPS and I have never had an issue with USPS priority nor FedEx. Just in the last few months, UPS delivered an Amazon package of mine to a neighbors house, the rep told me the driver would retrieve the next day. Never happened. Another order from only Tennessee arrived with half the contents of the box missing, the company sent out a replacement and instead of leaving at my front door as usual and out of sight from the street, the stupid driver leaves it leaning against my garage door facing the street!

I even got an empty box that was supposed to have a 5 lb tool in it, you would think the driver would realize the box is light and has a hole in it. I always choose ANY other carrier than UPS if I have the option.

USPS is the only service that I use and endorse. They've never done me wrong, and are the lowest cost shipping service with insurance and tracking included with all Priority packages. Why on god's earth would I pay double or triple the amount for UPS or FedEx? Sorry. I won't bite.

Oh yeah.
I have a model coming from NY that was sent Jan 2018, it is still showing "In Transit".

I also had an ebay purchase going from Anaheim CA to Irvine CA (about 20-25 miles). After 5 days waiting i got the notice it had reached the mail sorting facility IN NEW JERSEY!! Finally got it 3-4 days later

This summer I had a shipment on the way but went online to hold the package until I got back from a trip. USPS charged about $15 to do so, but they acknowledged the hold. When I got back from my trip, the package was sitting by my door, and had been there for 3 days! About 3 weeks later I got an email from USPS saying they were sorry, but they would not be able to hold my package for me!

UPS issue......last month I mailed a package from the UPS store and had it scanned..2 days later it was at my door step. They claim a system error which happens on occasion. Next thing you know they charge me to ship the box back to me!
A supervisor called and said a full refund is coming immediately..that was 3 days ago no refund to paypal yet.

And lets not forget Fed Ex they left a very expensive Inflight at my door when the instructions clearly said signature required. Thank goodness nothing happened.

I actually won't buy from a company that uses UPS now. So many problems and if you miss the delivery trying to get to a distribution centre to retrieve is like entering the Crystal Maze.

Did have a model that I posted going to Germany go via Jamaica with Royal Mail. Thankfully the buyer saw the funny side of it as well and it only took 3 days extra to arrive.

Every area is different. When I lived in Memphis, my USPS guy was a really good guy. If it was in his truck, you were getting it. I remember one time he had an express mail package that needed a signature. I missed him but I saw where he was. I pulled up next to him. He grabbed the box and he said, "There you are. I was going to try to re-deliver this later this afternoon but this works too." Here in Atlanta my guy sucks...you usually get it but sometimes not and he'll scan it about 80% of the time. Last week, I bought a model from Australia. It was sent through Australia Post on a Thursday. It was at my door that Monday.

UPS & FedEx aren't really that expensive. As long as you print your labels at home and just drop off then they're actually pretty cheap and of course guaranteed. FedEx also has a flat rate service. A FedEx Medium Box (there's two version of the size, one works and one doesn't) will hold a Gemini 200 narrow body. 3 day service is under $14. I sent 3 UPS Ground packages within the last week...two were $11 and one was $20 -- USPS would have also cost $20. I went with UPS.

The only one I don't like around my area is FedEx Ground. For those who don't know, FedEx Ground is contract work. I've had numerous occasions where they say it's delivered and then show up the next day instead. It's a shame too because especially when it involves cross country, their commitment is usually a day faster than UPS Ground.

To get real technical...FedEx Ground and FedEx Express are two entirely different networks. If you ship a FedEx Ground package from Atlanta to Orlando then FedEx will truck it and the in transit time is two days. If you ship a FedEx 2Day package from Atlanta to Orlando then FedEx is going to fly it.

If you ship a UPS Ground package from Atlanta to Orlando then UPS is going to truck it and the in transit time is two days. If you ship a UPS 2nd Day Air package from Atlanta to Orlando then UPS is still going to truck it. Also, since Atlanta is within driving distance to Louisville and Columbia...UPS is going to truck your 2nd Day Air packages to and from air hubs to connect to flights if needed. They only fly at night out of places like Knoxville, Atlanta, Memphis...

FedEx on the other hand will be flying on the day sort from Knoxville to Memphis.

---

And for those who really want to know...it's because of labor and the railway labor act. You might have heard this before but FedEx is an airline that owns trucks. UPS is a trucking company that owns an airline.

I think the record has to be my package from Dai-Kong. 1/72 scale Indonesian AF SU-30. Via DHL
KL Malayisa on Friday 'shipped'
CGV 'Cinci' Saturday
Winchester, Ky Monday morning. Front porch.
No fancy next day or three day shipping, just all the stars aligned perfectly on that route I guess!

That is the fanciest international shipping you can get. He must get a great discount because that is DHL Worldwide Express. That stuff, along with it's UPS & FedEx equivalent service levels, has counter rates easily above $100.

I did get a package from Malaysia via UPS last month in 3 days. It was an Amazon purchase, shipping was only $4.50 usd and box weighed 21 lbs. a rear sway bar kit for my Nissan pickup. tracking shows it left Shaw Alam, MY on 8/20, then Shenzhen, CN, Narita,JP, Anchorage,AK on the 21st, Louisville,KY, Orlando,Fl and Eustis,Fl delivered on the 22nd. I was shocked the thing traveled all that way with no damage, but i believe that is a heavy travel route for fresh imported Seafood, and as to why it arrived so fast.

Love my USPS here in southern caleeeefornIA! They’re good people too. The old post office would do well to have my crew train and certify all USPS shops!

plane737, I have kin (family) on the WVA Kentucky border in War WVA!

When I was a kid I would walk down to the corner store for pop (soda) and penny candy and then take my squirt gun over to the one woman post office and hold-up Gladys! She lived next door to my Grandparents! I did drench her once with water...man that switch on my rear later that evening hurt!

Hate FedEx. When I lived back in the states, I had a package arrive to our local distribution warehouse two days early. Since they didn’t deliver it that day, I called up the next day to see why it wasn’t delivered. They said it wasn’t scheduled to be delivered until the next day, so they’re waiting.

One good thing about China is they deliver regardless of what day it is. Only hold up would be with Chinese customs, but if the package arrives at the distribution center then they’ll try to get it to you that day or by the next day at the latest...Mon thru Sun, any time.

That's cool! Our fabricator at work, Matt is a McCoy. Yes, direct descent to the Hatfield and McCoy feud families. The Tugg River was 200 yards from his uncles back yard. He also has some pretty believable Bigfoot stories/sightings to talk about. There could be anything hiding up there in those mountains imo! If you hear banjo music,RUN!!!

I forgot to mention... recently i was expecting and excited to receive a package via UPS, mods for my car . UPS tracking showed it was on the truck out for delivery as of 7:00am and will be delivered by 8:00pm. anxiously waiting for it after work, 8:00pm comes and still no package. so i go back to tracking and it states, "address couldn't be found"... what!?!?!

My house is in a city development since 1985! anyways, it was on a Friday, so i didn't get the part till Monday...

That really sucks! Of course, FedEx couldn't have used that excuse because I had it delivered to work, and the University has been in the city since the mid-1800's.

That is neat Plane737! Yeah all the snake handling churches and gun fights in the streets outside some of the Bradshaw beer joints that would occur on weekends even scared the State Cops that would come to town.

Yes, bigfoot can thrive in any of those hollers! People in the US for the most part would not believe that there are shanty towns back in them there hills with no electricity or running water! Mcdowell county that WAR sits in is the poorest county in the US!

As for the banjo, I can't run that fast and play at the same time!

I used to have issues with the post office when I lived in Northern Kentucky. They lost a few packages, one with a really nice check.

But yesterday the post office was closed at 10am?? so don't understand that.

USPS delivers 660,000,000 pieces of mail each day to aver 142,000,000 delivery points. Occasionally, there’s gonna be a problem.

They are the 3rd largest employer in the United States. You want to see them go out of business?

I think postal services are the same all over the world and their like.

I have enough complaints with Royal Mail and Parcel Farce. I mean what on earth is the £11 admin charge for paying import tax? It gets ridiculous when the import tax is like £8.

Worst delivery service though was Hermes... a bit in the past now as most of the retailers I buy models from no longer use them.

Nothing is as bad as Canada Post. They've stopped allowing tracking on international parcels arriving from other national postal companies (except USPS) and since RoyalMail is the crappiest of them all my parcel always ends up at the postal office. On top of that, I have literal security footage of a Canada Post worker leaving a delivery notice to go pick it up because no one was home and he never knocked the door once. Upon showing Canada Post proof they stopped replying. +1 for my Canada Post friends. FedEx & DHL are awesome. UPS is the one carrier I've never used before.
