Default Remember the Jingle?

Yes ladies and gentlemen, I'm talking about the 30 second to 1 minute songs that we all loved to hear that immediately reminded us of a product. Whether it be on radio or television or even the big screen, companies would invest in accompanying their commercial with a catchy tune that immediately reminded us of the product and/or service they offered. I'm a child of the jingle generation and so privileged to have heard decades of unforgettable song and melody.

There's an interesting history about the jingle and how it wasn't until the ASCAP came along that the composers of these songs actually got residuals for their work.

So it's no surprise that I love NWO Airlines. And I even posted a link in another thread to a commercial from 1974. Even though I wasn't born yet when it was originally broadcast on television, I immediately adored that commercial and the song that accompanied it when I saw it on YouTube. Isn't the Interweb great? Well, I decided to take that upload and have a go at it the best I could. The original upload is in pretty bad, but okay quality for being transferred presumably from VHS or Betamax, though I'm not sure if they were even available yet in 1974.

Regardless, I isolated the audio track and remastered it using Sony Sound Forge Pro 11.0 to repair a skip, lengthen the track, clean up the levels using a graphic equalizer, incorporate a stereo effect (it's a monaural track), boost the bass, and cut down on the hiss in the highs. I also added fade-in/fade-out. It sounds much better now even in a nice set of headphones.

Video was remastered using Sony Vegas Pro 12.0 to up convert it to 720p (because why not?), white balance correction, color balancing, sharpening, Gaussian blur slightly for digital artifact removal, enhance brightness and contrast, video and audio syncing, and adding my own itsy-bitsy watermark so y'all can recognize my work.

Let me know what you think, and I encourage you all to post your own favorite jingles here in this thread for us to get them stuck in our heads.

....And go!

My remastered video:

I've never seen this before. "We give you half the world"? Doesn't sound too promising by today's standards.

Although I was very young at that time I was fascinated. As a child I didn't care for the Lufthansa cocktail but you could see a climbing B727 from the bottom side

(Too bad... not in this video!)

Nice jingle on that one. Ah,... the time when flying was a privilege and you dressed to the nine's while on the flight. Thanks for posting.

Here's another Northwest Orient Airlines jingle. I tried to recreate the original advert using two different sources. I go into more detail in the description if you wanna know more about it. Enjoy!

"The World Is Going Our Way"

American Airlines "Something Special In The Air" campaign. This video is promoting low fares to the Caribbean and includes a slow-paced reggae tune and visuals of their McDonnell Douglas DC-10 "Silverbird." Audio and video remastered.

Wow, I haven't seen "Once in a Lifetime" by PanAm in here. Definitely my favourite song...

PanAm will be missed, along with many ancient airlines in here. Maybe you can remaster this video Tony?
