Ditched Facebook in 2013, been fine since! Article
Well, looks like facebook is in the news for a serious breach of privacy! Anyone who thinks their private/personal info is off-limits to companies that partner with Facebook; I hate to break it to you, but everyone on facebook is fair game for these data mining firms!
Very interesting opinion article about the positives of not having Facebook run your life. If I recall I ditched Facebook back in 2002 (received friend requests from people I went to school with in grade school, annoying advertisers, ex-gal friends; that triggered my very brief stint with Facebook) I just use my cell phone, WhatsApp, email and other ways to communicate to friends and family.

NEVER used it!! Never will!!! should be SHUTDOWN! Don't use twitter, whatsapp etc. either. like you just my phone and email. you are wide open to stalkers/hackers and other companies snooping on you. they hardly EVER pay taxes, and zuckerburg or whatever his name is doesn't give a SCHITE!!
THERE IS NO REPEAT NO PRIVACY ON THESE SITES DESPITE WHAT THEY SAY! SHUT'EM DOWN!

..... A number of years ago I opened an account on fecesbook (as I think of it). Totally fictional silly name, bio, address, interests, occupation.... everything. Even the picture was fake... a picture of a Sim I made. It was amusing for several months the people who contacted that for reasons like remembered him from high school/college, old girlfriends, neighbors, co-workers. Even got a marriage proposal. That amusement wore off with the degree of stupidity. That fake fecesbook account also got a lot of spam mail too.
..... With that experience, don't need it, never will.

I have been on FB for quite sometime and do not experience some of the things mentioned above. I do not play games on FB and I do not participate in some of the silly apps that are on it. I use it mainly to stay in touch with my friends in the U.K. and to participate in interest groups. (Example: an Edsel Restoration Group.) Say what you will, but it can be beneficial, especially when it comes to birthday reminders of friends, local events, etc. It all comes down to limiting time on it and using it responsibly.

I’ve also been on FB for a while. Actually, I first signed up when you still needed a *.edu address to get an account. These days I mostly use it to just stay in touch. I’ve deleted a lot over the years that consistently use FB as their own personal political platform. I just don’t have the patience to scroll though that crap.

Hehe, same here. Still don't understand why anyone would play the stupid games on FB. There are some groups that turn out to be useful, especially a few employee groups, rich in history but also updates for what's going on today. Some interesting stuff I haven't seen anywhere else.
But a bunch of FB is just junk...spend time wisely.......

Looks like Tony Stark (aka Elon Musk) has 'deleted' the FaceBook pages for Tesla and SpaceX. The tweets between him and WhatsApp founder are too funny!

I have never been a member of Facebook. I just recently joined Instagram. I joined as the aviation content is in abundance. One member works airside at LAX. I could watch his videos all day.

Facebook is fine as long as you play it properly. I just use it to keep in touch with distant friends, share some pictures and chat with them mainly Then there's some decent (aviation) theme groups I use as well, which are good for info and heads ups about unusual aircraft visits to my local airports, as well as good source of video/pics. I also enjoy groups about local interests, music and bands etc.
As for the privacy thing, why do people openly offer up their personal and private information to the internet and then get all offended when that info gets picked up by firms and advertisers ? Do the same people walk into a bar and start handing out their names, addresses, phone numbers, photos of their kids etc to complete strangers too ?
Apply a bit of common sense and it's ok to play folks ! ;-)

Never used it, never will, but these seem like wise words for those who must.

Pretty much the same for how I use Facebook and was in the beginning anti-FB. It's mainly a convenient way to keep in contact with distant friends and family. I can just about remember the time before FB when it was usually said "you don't write, you don't call - what's the matter with you?"
...also from a diecast view, JC Wings doesn't have a website but they do have a Facebook page
