Hi folks
I need to pick the brains of the community here about repairing or replacing the under carriage
on this older Inflight model i recently purchased. Not come across this before but im sure you guys
have seen your fair share of these.

Prior pics did not show the damage it had sustained during a "Heavy landing" it must have made
prior to my purchasing it Sold as new. Maybe the central landing gear was moulded that way but
the tyres sure seem to be breaking down or were repaired and the adhesive was smeared liberally
around it.
As i have not done a repair or replacement of this type before i need some advice on any of the
following :

Where can i purchase a set of bogies for this or at the very least new tyres.
How to remove the bogies if a replacement is found
Basically help in all aspects !

My suggestion: Don't even try to remove the gear as a whole assembly. It's pretty easy to remove just the wheels and tires. I suggest buying replacements here.
Once your wheels are off attempt to straighten out the bogies, they are pretty easily manipulated. I always paint the silver wheel assemblies to using Testors Model Master Light Gray as well. Good luck

Thank you for that info, i have ordered the parts just prior to this
reply, the paint you mentioned i assume you mean this particular
one ? Light Gray Paint 1732 by Testors Model Master Paints thats
the reference i got via Google before i try at my local hobby shop .

yes I agree 100% with this advice.
Done it once or twice and its the easiest option

Hi all
Yes I will be doing this.... but as I have said earlier not done it before do the wheels just pull off from the axle
and replacement wheels complete or replacement tyres push straight onto wheels or will I need to soften tyres
by placing in warm water prior ?

No problem! I pull the tires off with my fingers or tweezers. I just checked but I actually have Light Ghost Gray 1728, but yours should work as well. The other option is if your hobby store doesn't carry either, you could make do with black and white and do a custom mix. Obviously the paint is not necessary, but IMO is much more accurate and matches the newer JC and IF releases.

The other thing I forgot to mention is it will take some doing to get the wheels to seperate but dont use pliers as you'll mess up the wheels. I take a utility knife and use leverege against the bogey to gently work them free.

Hi Folks
neilc777 Thanks for all the info, as i have not purchased the paint yet i will look into them
when i am at the shop and may get both if they look slightly different.
Im sure i will come across other models that have similar problems as i go down this fleet
building road !!. Now all i have to do now is wait for my replacement parts to show up and
get the wheels/tyres off.
The explanation you gave me will be a great guide !

neilc777, yes I will post pics once the repair parts turn up incidentally the vendor
is checking with his supplier as to see if he can get some replacements too not
holding out too much hope there so as and when they turn up I will do a comparison
with the bought ones verse the supplier ones should be interesting .
