Default Sir Roger Moore has passed away. RIP Bond, James Bond!

More sad news from the UK. Sir Roger Moore has passed away. One of my favorite actors and a charming and suave portrayal of James Bond. 'Live and Let Die' , 'The Spy Who Loved Me' and 'The Man with the Golden Gun' were 3 of my favorite Roger Moore Bond movies.

The Man With The Golden Gun was the first James Bond movie I remember watching as a kid on ABC in the US. Loved him as James Bond...thank you for the years of entertainment, may you Rest In Peace!

Here is one of the best opening scenes from a James Bond movie. Carly Simon singing 'Nobody does it Better'. A fitting tribute to Sir Roger Moore and from one of his best Bond movies 'The Spy Who Loved Me'. This is the movie that introduced Richard Kiel as JAWS! A wonderful Bond villain IMO.

Funny, I was just thinking who played Jaws and looked it up. They were a good hero-villain combo. The last time they faced each other was in Moonraker, wasn't it? Jaws help free Bond and his honey from the doomed space station. Not sure if Jaws and his newfound love ever escaped. Best kept that way.

great song...Roger Moore was the best Bond ever...

I also liked him in Cannon Ball Run with Dom Deluise

on a sidenote, Richard Kiel, alias Jaws used to stay with my next door neighbor once a year for a week to attend some religious convention here in Orlando every summer. This was late on in his life after he retired from acting.

Vale Roger Moore,

I always prefered him in "The Saint", probably because it was repeated ad nauseam on late night TV in the 1970s-80s on Australian television.

Brilliant opening theme, very catchy:

Occassionally it had a different opening, which made watching the opening titles even more interesting and often "very British-ly" funny.

They were always mixing up the theme from show to show:

Finally a fan video for THE SAINT, as portrayed by Roger Moore in the classic British TV series. The music is THE SAINT theme, remade by Orbital for the movie with Val Kilmer. The spoof of the James Bond logo is from a documentary on "THE SAINT"...~!

My all time favourite James Bond. What a great legacy he has left us. From The Saint, to The Persuaders and then to Bond, what a versatile actor he was. Thanks Sir Roger, you'll be missed.

Neil.

My respect to Roger Moore but Sean Connery was IMO the best James Bond period.

I will not debate who is the best Bond; because each Bond fan grew up in different generations of the movies. I grew up with Sir Roger Moore as my Bond. Both Sean and Roger brought different qualities to the role of Bond. I found Sean's Bond to be a very serious character, while Roger's Bond was more light hearted. Interesting enough was that Roger was 5 years older than Sean when he took over the role.

I do admire Sir Roger Moore stating that the role he most respected and was very proud of was his role as a Unicef spokesman. Now that speaks volumes of his persona.

The arguments over who was the 'best' Bond are all subjective. Roger Moore was the Bond of my childhood, i loved his cool, suave persona, and those films i can still enjoy. The Persuaders has been having a re-run lately, and I have really enjoyed that; Curtis & Moore - brilliant.
That he has stirred, and shaken, so many is a testament to his charm and good nature.
RIP Sir Roger

I agree with you on the 'Saint' TV series. I enjoyed watching the re-runs and found Roger Moore to be the perfect actor for that TV series/role.

The movie version of the Saint, allowed Roger Moore to be the voice of the Car Radio announcer. Too bad he couldn't have played a distant blood relative to Val Kilmer in the movie. But, at least they got him a part.

Now this was too funny from Roger Moore. His part in the comedy Cannonball Run was a blast! He played a man named Seymour Goldfarb Jr, pretending to be the famous actor Roger Moore along with his Aston Martin! ! Doesn't get any funnier than him making fun of himself!
