Some more innocent victims. I'm not going to post links, those wanting information can click on any news site to find out more. I'm not ashamed to say I've been moved to tears by some of the images on our media here over the last few hours. Many of the dead are children and other young people just out for a good time.
If the moderators think my post is too political and will be removed, I fully understand.
Neil.

Everyone here seems to be walking round in a daze and we are a few hours away from Manchester. It sickens me that young people and children have been targeted.
My heart weeps for those involved. Terror will bend us but it will never break us.
The news reported an 8 year old was one of the victims. What do you say about that? It literally makes you sick. The SOB who did it,new damn well who the majority of the victims were going to be.Bastard! Prayers for the injured and families.

Agreed. I sure hope the person or persons who did this will be caught and prosecuted. I thought I heard on the news earlier today that a suspect has been identified.

I have a soon to be 8 year old daughter, and it just shows that terrorists have no bounds or exceptions when they want to inflict harm to others. Prayers to all the families and victims from this horrific tragedy.
The suicide bomber was a 22 year old named Salman Abedi . Yes, ISIS has taken responsibility for this horrific bombing.
Totally appalling and extremely heartbreaking and sad.
I suspect news will be breaking hourly on this tragic event.
Just Announced: British police have confirmed the name of the suspected suicide bomber behind the terrorist attack at a concert in Manchester that killed 22 people on Monday night. He has been identified as 22-year-old Salman Abedi, believed to have been born in Manchester.
The London Telegraph newspaper said Abedi was the second youngest of four children whose family fled Libya and the Gaddafi regime.
His mother and father, a security officer, were both born in Libya but appear to have emigrated to London before moving to the Fallowfield area of south Manchester where they have lived for at least 10 years.
Please DAC members, do NOT jump in with your own conclusions. Remember all political and religious statements WILL be removed. Statements expressing sympathy for this cowardly attack are more than welcome.

Remember tho, ISIS take responsibility for ALL bombings.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack through its news agency Amaq, saying that one of its members had carried out the suicide bombing.
Western experts were sceptical, noting Islamic State had offered two accounts of the attack that contradicted each other as well as the official police version.
In its original post, the organisation said "a group of attackers" had been involved, a reference that was later removed.
As such, until authorities announce who is behind this, please keep to the facts and not let opinions rule here.. Let us not turn this thread into a political or religious hunt.

Sounds good. We will let the officials investigating the bombing make the 'official' announcement to the world.
RIP to the dead. and condolences to family and friends. sadly I feel there will be a lot more of this!
These events have been happening over the past few years, and this latest event in Manchester is just adding to the growing list of bombings/attacks. Yes, I agree with you that more of these horrific events are on the way. We have not seen the worst or the last of such attacks.

Not sure why you brought this up..? I don't see anything you said taking shots at anyone. The statement posted by me was made towards ALL members.
My bad. You are correct. I will edit my post. T7 I hope the officials are able to track down all known individuals/groups that had ties to the suicide bomber that assisted him in carrying out this bombing.

Lou, I understand you are the moderator here and you want to keep this forum "clean" but you have to understand that members here are not ignorant children. Everyone here is walking on eggshells for fear of getting banned or having their post removed. Fact is, this attack was religious and we ALL know it. It was not political, Liberal vs Conservative nor was it a disgruntled postal employee. It was a suicide bomber who was named and belonged to a religion we are all too familiar with. There is nothing wrong with discussing the issues as grown ups.....but sadly I don't think there is much to discuss anymore.

No, Lou is right and you don't speak on behalf of forum members.
Fact is there was an attack and by respect towards the victims, it is not the right time or place to push any political or religious agenda.

I'm beginning to wish I had never posted about this sorry event. It was not my intention to cause friction between fellow forum members or moderators. I just thought it would be a place where we could all express our sympathy for the victims, their families and friends struggling to cope with their loss.
Neil.

You totally missed my point. Read the last statement. Keep in mind that I did not mention a religion by name. My point was to tell Lou politely that everyone here is aware of why it happened and by whom. If you don't, then I really don't know what to tell you but to ask you where you've been the past few years? Whether it be Western music, sex appeal or plain simply against the beliefs of another group doesn't matter anymore. But we know why so please don't say that you will wait for the police inquiry.
No one here on this forum has the power to push any political or religious agenda elsewhere, it's called discussion, but as I said earlier, there isn't much to discuss.

I understand that you wanted to open up an area on the DAC for folks to post their sympathy and prayers for the victims of this bombing.
However, you can't have one without the other; meaning there will be members here who will vent their outrage and anger towards the bomber and any of his associates.

Actually, it is possible to express our sadness without venting outrage at the perpetrators. As an adult, you should be able to tell the difference between the two.
Those who do vent on DAC, will have their vents deleted - simple as that.

So you are saying it's fine to say 'So Sorry' for the innocent children who were murdered by this bomber? But, hold your tongue and not say any negative comments regarding the bomber/killer?
By not expressing any outrage for this bombing, one might as well be condoning it. Please let me know if I missed anything?
Like you mentioned, we are all adults here on the DAC. You can't shield folks from one half (anger/disgust), but at the same time only show the other half (sorrow); relating to this bombing.

Reason: off topic removed
I have a soon to be 8 year old daughter. This bombing of innocent children just pains me for the families involved. My daughter is going to ask me and her mom in the near future that she wants to attend a pop concert with her friends. I don't know how to reply to that request, based on this incident. Yes, we live in Canada; but that does not mean we are exempt from such evil and sinister plots by these terrorists.
So, Yes I feel very sorry for the victims; but at the same time I am very disgusted and angry why this had to happen to children who are just out there to enjoy a concert with their friends and have a memorable night. We all know why this happened; and let's not put our heads into the sand to sidestep or ignore the facts.

As sad as it is, we all have to come to terms that these are the times we live in today. I remember going to public places with my parents and entering and wandering around freely. Today as a father of 3 boys, I have to take them through a metal detector and a pat down just to go to watch a hockey game. I was sickened when my 5 year old son was asked to remove his flip flops at the airport so the soles of his feet can be checked.
It sickens me what happened in Manchester and I can't imagine what's going on in the parents' minds. But what can you do? You can't stop your children from going to the mall with their friends or taking a public bus or anything else public. It's a sick world we live in.
Apparently now in the news, the father was arrested in Tripoli.

Thoughts and prayers to all the victims of this deplorable, evil attack on innocent young people. It seems to happen all too frequently nowadays. I'm with ELY707 and I hate that we can't even properly talk about this because the easily offended will pounce on us like jungle cats for pointing out the elephant in the room. I feel compelled to say a lot more, but it'll just get deleted anyways.
I will say to the poster that said 'this isn't the time to push political and religious agendas' ... to me, the best time to talk about these issues is when the wounds are still fresh. Once the wounds heal and the pain goes away, you've become numb and will stop asking why. Don't do that. That attitude ensures this will keep happening.

And i will point out to the poster who said this "the best time to talk about these issues" that this is not the best place to discuss these issues, as per forum rules.

I hear ya about the airport incident with your son. My daughter (she was 5 at the time) was pulled aside and given the full pat down along with the metal detector wand at one airport; but myself, my wife and son were given a free pass thru security. My wife looked at me with a
and I just rolled my eyes back.
Looks like the officials in Manchester and Libya are rounding up the associates. Looks like the brother of the bomber was also arrested; officials stated he was about to carry out an attack in Libya and he was under surveillance at the time.
A very heart warming move by Ariana Grande to offer to pay for all the funerals from this tragic incident. I have the utmost admiration and respect for this loving gesture by her.

I don't see anything wrong with discussing it here, the rules are the way they are because there are people who are easily offended by opinions other than their own over issues that concern all of us.

My oldest friend, from childhood, messaged me today to tell me his young cousin was one of the missing teenage girls from the Isle of Barra seriously injured in the attack on Monday. Her best friend and fellow Ariana Grande fan was confirmed as deceased this morning. Desperately sad situation, 14 year old girls for Christ's sake !

Actually the rules are this way because this is a Diecast Aircraft Collectors site and not a religious or political site. You are more than welcome to discuss this over on Facebook among other internet sites, you'll find lots of sites in the internet that you can vent on and share opinions with other like minded individuals.
But here on a Diecast Aircraft Collectors site, there are rules, forum rules which all members agreed to when you signed up, which states you don't talk political or religious as they're not permitted.
There is alot of other things that arn't permitted as well, such as you agree that you will not use this discussion forum to post any statement or photo which knowingly includes: false, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, misogynistic, sexualised, denigrating, objectifing, obscene, profane, graphic, threatening, xenophobic, racist, pornographic, or is invasive of a person's privacy or otherwise in violation of any law. No one seems to bat an eyelid about that.
As moderator I follow the Forum rules, and so should all of you.

It is absolutely awlful, heartbreaking and just plain beyond belief. Thankfully even in this overwhelming time, little miracles do happen. I read earlier today of a woman who only survived because she was on her mobile phone. Evidently a bolt hit her hand and ricochet into her mobile phone, slowing it down enough that when it hit her face it didn't kill her.
Such sad times, especially with so many young innocent lives shattered...

Well its kind of silly to call this sub section "Squawk Talk" then...maybe "Sterile Cockpit" would be more accurate. What exactly is the point of allowing current events topics of a religious and political nature, like this attack, when we cant talk about those very key aspects of it? All the threads will just look like this:
"Another terrorist attack happened. RIP. It's a part of everyday life"
"Yep, it happened. RIP. Life goes on."
"Prayers to those who lost their lives. Tragic"
...ad nauseum. You don't see why this is silly? You are forcing everyone to just say the same thing. Just disallow anything remotely political or religious, like this topic. Lets remove the gray areas and stick to aviation and collecting. And why did you add that second paragraph, as if that has anything to do with my objections. Those I agree with, so don't make a strawman argument implying I want a free for all. If there is a topic on a terror attack, people should be able to properly express their views. I just don't like limits on free expression. It's the cornerstone of Western civilization - but it's not allowed here because.....reasons.

Ariana Grande is going back to Manchester to hold a fund raising/benefit concert for the victims (passed away and injured) and their families. A wonderful gesture from her to do anything she can to ease the sorrow/pain for all those impacted. I hope other famous singers/groups will join her onstage as well.
American singer Ariana Grande says she will return to Manchester for a benefit concert to raise money for the victims of the attack on May 22.
Grande expressed her interest in doing a benefit show in an Instagram post on Friday, with a date to be announced later.
The singer, 23, has cancelled dates through June 5 on her worldwide tour after 22 were killed and dozens injured at the conclusion of her show at Manchester Arena.
She thanked fans for their outpouring of support and vowed not to let the suicide bombing prevent her desire to bring music to people in a spirit of unity.
"Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder and to live more kindly and generously than we did before," Grande said.
"Music is meant to heal us, to bring us together, to make us happy," she added. "So that is what it will continue to do for us."
Grande's Dangerous Woman*tour is scheduled at present to restart on June 7 in Paris.

Why not have Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez + her BF (The Weekend), Lady Gaga, Rihanna, etc.. join Ariana and have the event held at Old Trafford stadium in Manchester.
I hear this stadium can hold 75,000+ soccer fans; convert that to a concert layout and you can easily add another 20,000 seats. I am sure such an event would sell out within 1 hour and please block the concert computer bots from purchasing tickets. Now that would be an awesome benefit concert to help the victims and their loved ones. 100,000 people in attendance showing how United they are would be a beautiful and joyful sight to see.

I'd rather see Perry sell her gated mansion and live like the rest of us in a modest home without 24/7 security.

Looks like I was right on one performer that being Katy Perry. The lineup looks very good and can't wait to see the turnout for this star studded benefit concert. Just heart warming to see these other singers and groups come out to raise some funds for the Manchester bombing victims.
MANCHESTER, United Kingdom — US pop star Ariana Grande announced Tuesday she would return to Manchester to headline a star-studded benefit concert for the victims
of the deadly attack on her show last week.
Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams, Usher and Take That will join her for Sunday’s concert in memory of the 22 people who died, seven of them children.

Well, I was sure wrong on how long it would take to sell out for the benefit concert. Also, more additional singers/groups have signed up for the concert as well.
