Default 1958 Plymouth Fury by AutoWorld 1:64 Scale

One of the nicest models in my 1:64 collection. Introduced in 1956, the Fury was positioned as a high performance coupe version of the Belvedere. The most desired shapes to me are the 1957 and 1958 model years. It is shown here in the only color available for 1958, the sandstone beige with golden trim powered by a 350 CU 4 barrel V8, advertised by Plymouth as the "Golden Commando" (you don't get that advertising anymore these days). When Stephen King used the Fury in his book Christine, he correctly wrote how Roland LeBay custom ordered it in red but made the mistake of giving it 4 doors. Out of the 24 Savoy, Belvedere and Fury's used in the movie Christine, 20 were completely destroyed, though to be fair quite a few were non-runners, junkers pulled by ropes for filming.

Thought.. should we have a car forum sub-section ?

They did a great job replicating this awesome late '50s Plymouth. Love it.

The Ford looks good, too!

Good spotting! You know classic cars well. Indeed a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria.

Wow, that looks great, too! I knew it had to be either a '55 or a '56. They're a bit easier to distinguish from each other when looking at the front (turn signal housings).

I like the MiG-21 in the background. Did you Code-3 it? The aircraft number isn't familiar.

Hi Steve, the Mig-21 is the standard Polish Air Force "1311 Red" release from Hobby Master.

Ah, should have known that by the recon pod. The -21 is my favorite Russian aircraft, it's like the sports car of fighters.

BTW, I'd like to have a car section on this site, I have a YUGE collection. It's great, really big. Really.

Lol! Meanwhile I'll post in this section. Went to the Canadian Automotive Museum in Oshawa yesterday with family. Very nice, and some very rare types of cars on display (Bugatti, etc.). On topic, they have a 1957 Canadian Dodge Regent on display but sadly in a far corner so the below photos were the best I could do. Essentially the same as Plymouth Belvedere, Savoy, Fury, etc.

Looks great! While on the subject of Belvedere, I read recently that Miss Belvedere finally found a home at Historic Auto Attractions Museum in Roscoe, Illinois.

While having clean looking lines, our family purchased two of these in 1957 and replaced them in 1958 because they were so poorly built with never ending mechanical issues. It is a perfect example of when beauty is only skin deep.

Thanks for sharing your pics. I would love to see a car model section on the forum. I have a few car models ranging from 1/64 to 1/16 scale.

Do you belong to the Red Line Club.com? If not you should check it out and see some of the hot wheels that come out of that club. They are very nice
