So many tourists are attacked, beaten and robbed by the police in Mexico. They even set up illegals with coyotes to cross the border for a price. How someone would come up with the idea of asking Mexican police for assistance is absolutely comical.

YES, there is corruption in Mexico, but despite this the US and Mexico law enforcement agencies ALREADY give assistance to each other. For example: the US trains Mexican Police, both countries joint patrol the border together, both sides extradite fugitives wanted by the other, and they are both share information about crimes be conducted across the border such as drugs illegal crossing from Mexico and illegal firearms from the US that cross into Mexico.
Lastly, its a bit of an insult to widely label Mexican police as corrupt when over 4000 have been killed in battles with the cartels (using weapons smuggled from the USA) in the past few years, trying to keep drugs from coming into the U.S (and Canada). I don't think their relatives would appreciate the insinuation. Most mexican cops are not corrupt, but they all are underpaid, under equipped, under-manned doing an extremely dangerous job none of you armchair generals would even dream of.
Now given all this in mind, how much cooperation with the Mexican authorities be willing to give the US, if some ill-informed, ignorant, bully in the White House started to strong arm them into paying for a wall that is not on their territory and would be a enormous expense for such a poor country to actually pay.
Wouldn't such a **** move make them even LESS inclined to help in future joint LE endevours?

Incidentally Trump's Wall is getting smaller by the minute, his latest proposal to the wall (the third time) is now only 200 miles long. Since the border is actually 2000 miles long (and to be fair, half of that is over natural barriers, so its only 1000 miles in reality) one wonders how he plans to cover the other 800.

Especially during a first term when a candidate has to worry about reelection, He starts breaking too many promises his supporters will have him tarred and feathered in 2020.
The wall was probably his biggest campaign promise it would be bad for his reputation among the base if he reneged on it. He's painted himself into a corner on the wall, he's damned either way.

Its not a question of which one is better (they both have pluses and minuses) its a question of degree. Too much capitalism or too much socialism is bad. The Mortgage Crisis and the Saving and Loan Scandal of 1989 are prime examples when Capitalism is allowed to roam unchecked by regulation. Too much regulation by contrast stymies economic growth. You need a balance of the two.
