I live just a few blocks away from that site at least 15 helicopters circling overhead.. I received a phone call at 5 AM this morning from a deputy sheriff friend of mine on the scene he was one of the first to respond at 2 AM, he is a seasoned veteran deputy some may know him on this site (owner of sky's the limit). He said it was horrific worse than anything he had ever seen in Vietnam.. More blood and bodies stacked then he has ever seen in one location before.. He will live with that sight forever.. This came just one day after the shooting of the voice star 2 miles away from there too..

Gunman update:

Omar Saddiqui Mateen was the gunman who opened fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, killing at least 50 people, two law enforcement officials told CNN.

The suspect, 29, who was killed by police, is from Fort Pierce, Florida, the officials said.
A law enforcement source told CNN that Mateen worked as a private security guard. He rented a car and drove to Orlando to carry out the attack, the source said.

FBI teams and local law enforcement are working to clear Mateen's apartment, a federal law enforcement source said.

Agents are going through the apartment with bomb squads and investigating the materials there, the source said.

911 = 2 commercial aircraft flown into the WTC buildings

Orlando night club = assault rifle, hand gun, etc. used by 1 lone person

Now I just found out my daughter is friends with the daughter of the family that owns the Pulse Nightclub as she used to drive her to school and were classmates. The family was out of the country and are flying back now.. What horror

I watched just last night "why they hate us" on CNN. I found it very disturbing. Seeing a 5 or 6 year old holding an AK-47???????? When I was five,I recall water pistols were the big thing.

Just heard Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, on Fox News say that just before being killed, the shooter pledged alliance to ISIS. Fox did not confirm it however.

With the president finally making a statement at the bottom of the hour, he should have spoken directly to the officers on the scene. And if an officer confirms that the shooter said those words, then the president better not make excuses for the gunman. I'm interested to hear Obama's statement.

The shooter suspected of killing 50 people and injuring 53 others inside a gay nightclub early Sunday in Orlando has been identified as Omar Seddique Mateen. Here's what we know so far:

• Who is the suspect: Omar Seddique Mateen, 29, of Fort Pierce, Fla., about 120 miles southeast of Orlando, is the suspected shooter. FBI Special Agent Ronald Hopper said at a news conference Mateen was a U.S. citizen who was born in New York. Mateen had been employed by the global security firm G4S since September 2007, the company said in a statement, and was not on duty at the time of shooting.

Florida state records list an Omar Mateen as a licensed security officer who also has a statewide firearms license. The suspect was killed by police after a hostage situation at the Pulse nightclub.

• Suspect known to FBI: The FBI first became aware of Mateen in 2013 after he made "inflammatory comments" to coworkers, Hopper said. The FBI "thoroughly investigated" the situation, Hopper said, including interviewing witnesses and conducting surveillance.

Mateen was interviewed twice, but the FBI was unable to verify the substance of the comments and the case was closed. Hopper did not elaborate on what the comments were that concerned Mateen's co-workers.

In 2014, Mateen again came to the FBI's attention because of an association with Moner Mohammad Abusalha, an American who grew up in Florida and carried out a suicide bombing attack in Syria that year. But the FBI determined that the contact was minimal and the case was closed, Hopper said.

Mateen was not currently under investigation or surveillance by FBI, Hopper said.

Seems like this guy was simply a loser looking to vent his anger at the world. I am not saying religion had nothing to do with this idiots actions but people have described him as a rage-filled time bomb.

Hated minorities, hated Homosexuals, hated non-Muslims, hated women. Someone with this much fury in them isn't going to need much to push them to violence.

Answers would be very difficult to come by, but a start would be to not brush an entire group of people with the same brush as some have the tendency to do on DA.C

Yes, during emotional events, people focus on certain aspects, but rational thought should prevail to prevent an escalation and spread of more hate.

I can already see a trend here. Those ones who has a biased world view about all Muslims are already using this to drive their agenda. That is not going to solve the problem, in fact, it will make the problem worse. Those ones, in my opinion, are part of the problem.

The rule of law should still apply. Evidence was lacking in identifying this individual without a doubt. But we don't know how many thousands of people need to be 'watched', do we all want to live in a Orwellian world? But the second amendment must be re-examined. Is it really still relevant?
