PH-BFO was named City of Orlando on its delivery date to KLM on 10/08/92.

During this period, KLM based the city name of their 747s on the relevance that the city had on its system. Back in 1989, Orlando was chosen over Tampa and Miami for its central location to the tourist trade and business opportunities. A smaller factor was that the last letter of the registration on each 747 began with the city's name (O for Orlando, etc...). Orlando service was discontinued in 2004 and the aircraft is currently stored.

Here is an old article from the Sun Sentinel:

- Break Out The Champagne

CFB REPORT - THOUGHT TALK AND SPECULATION

October 26, 1992

KLM ROYAL Dutch Airlines is naming one of its new Boeing 747-400 jets ''The City of Orlando.'' Hot off Boeing Corp.'s assembly line in Seattle, the aircraft is getting the final touches at KLM's Amsterdam headquarters. The christening, scheduled for Nov. 17 at Orlando International Airport, will feature Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood breaking a bottle of champagne across the plane's nose. The celebration is warranted as far as tourism executives, government officials and city boosters are concerned. Representing a free advertisement for Orlando, the jet is expected to fly on many of KLM's international routes.
