Default Happy Victory Day Russia!!

Happy victory day to all Russians.
Thank you for liberating us from the Nazi scum in Europe.

Once more you face the threat of an expanding europe under controll of new facists in the form of EU and NATO.

But once more you will be able to defeat them.
Because you have the heart ,the guts, and the will to give it all for mother Russia if needed.

A pride the we in europe lack.

The bare harsh reality is, while some nations like to 'stand together' in some big self love march, most reasonably intelligent Europeans are now beyond that, and don't really give a sh*t. Politicians like to sound like they do, but its only for their own self interest. Unless all humans stand together as one, my 'patriotism' lies with my family and nothing beyond...moving from UK to Australia, my allegiance goes no further than good weather. Never been interested in banner waiving myself. As much as some peoples wet dreams involve war after war after war over various useless reasons, mine involves a big block V8 and a Cessna at the local flying club

Weakness how exactly? Weak of mind? Weak of strength? Stamina perhaps?

Is a person who blindly pulls the trigger or pushes the button to destroy a person or thousands of peoples lives stronger than, say, a firefighter or coastguard who has devoted their life to saving others, despite risk to themselves?

I think the argument for constant human suffering in the servitude for the conquest and profit for the few (which it always has been since the dawn of human 'civilisation') is possibly the weakest mind set one can think of. A person who stands against the tide of what their government is pushing down their throat, and the influenced masses of the weaker minded stand amongst the strongest people in human society.

What exactly are you rambling about? You realize he's talking about WWII, right? I don't know -- do you think WWII was fought for useless reasons? Do you think the Allies should have just bent over to Hitler? Again, what exactly are you rambling about? He posted about WWII and specifically about Russia who arguably suffered the most casualties. What you may think about the politics involved is irrelevant to tens of millions of Russians who lost their lives.

Constant human suffering for the profit of a few? Again, what exactly are you rambling about?

I too thank the Russian/Soviet forces and Russian people, for the huge contribution they made in defeating the true fascists in WW2. I thank also all the other servicemen and women from many nations, who also gave their lives in the same cause, we all owe them big time, as we do those who today fight a foe perhaps even more insidious than the fascists of old.

Sounds pretty revolutionary to me.
And how did such people reach their goals in te past?
By waging war maybe?

This thread is simply my small and insignificant way of thanking the Russian people for what they did.

has got nothing to do with WW2. Sounds like he wants to get on with WW3...Russia 'defeating' NATO, even though neither of them are at war.

I'm 'rambling' on about the fact that all the lessons that should have been learned from WW2 are being forgotten because of attitudes like this.

Do not assume my stance against future conflicts reflects no appreciation for the sacrifices made by those in the past trying to stop evil. I made no disrespect to Russians, or any other Allied force from WW2, I made no comment about WW2 at all. Don't you put words in my mouth dude.

Then you should have left it at that, instead of talking about Russia 'defeating' the EU or NATO...whatever that means...I'm sure Putin, nor the people of Russia have any interest in defeating anyone.

Also, tell me exactly how NATO and the EU represent the spread of facism?

Andy please don't go that path i understand your angry or frustrated at the current situation in europe but using the F word and being bitter is not the solution. the OP was simply stating that he wanted to thank the Russian military in helping defeat the germans in World war 2, we are all a little frustrated at the current situation in West europe so am i but don't swear it's not worth getting banned for it

I dropped the swearing, I'm sorry about that. The current situation in Europe is far from that prior to WW2 though and even though there are minority facist movements in some European countries, these remain confined to very few, confused and ill educated individuals. Funnily enough, Russia is not short of these sorts of groups either.

Europe is but a step away from civil war. We are beeing overun by an army of muslim people that want nothing more than to undermine our believes our freedom and our ways of live.

This is not what our grandfathers fought and died for 71 years ago.
The expansion drive of the EU with in its wake NATO , is nothing more than an act of agression towards Russia.

But again i just want to send out my thanks to the Russian people.
And i was mearly pointing out that Russia has new challenges for the future.
Mainly EU and NATO

I'm not sure if all Muslim people are wanting to undermine our beliefs or way of life. I think a lot of what you see in the media is hyped up to provoke these exact reactions. I'm not saying that there aren't poisonous people intent on causing harm getting through too, but I'm sure these sorts of people represent a very very small percentage of the Muslim population. There would be a similar percentage of evil people from all walks, such as the fascists that you talk about.

I don't doubt that dark and stormy times lie ahead for all of us, with the explosion in world population and increasing demand for resources (and power), this is not limited to Europe, or Russia, but a worldwide problem, with no real solution in sight. The sad fact is, it is not the average Joe from any walk of life which has put us in this precarious situation. It is the greed of the controlling few, who have amassed vast wealth and power and continue to control the masses with dangerous ideals, propaganda and 'solutions' which turn people against each other.
I have a lot more in common with a working class individual from Russia or Pakistan than I ever will with the ruling elite of my country, or any other. Yet, most of the people whom I have the most in common would rather blame each other for the problems we now encounter, rather than question, and act upon the real cause of these problems. The pure greed and manipulation of the ruling elite. The very nature of human beings makes this recurring problem almost impossible to break.

I am sorry if I insulted you, it was not my intention, indeed you and I likely have a lot in common.
I do agree that we owe an enormous debt to the sacrifices made by so many million in WW2, as well as so many conflicts before and after. I come from a family with large military background which continues to this day. I just wish that there was another answer to the differences that exist amongst peoples from all the corners of the globe. Humans are capable of great things, indeed I imagine if 95% of all peoples and governments interest was common, we would likely already be making massive advances in space travel, overcoming energy issues, farming efficiencies and medical improvements that would be available to everyone, I could go on and on. Unfortunately, we are sold this illusion that working to serve someone, ultimately to feed their enormous profit expectations without question, and rewarded with the ability to survive and perhaps have a little extra to amass some material wealth ourselves is as good as it will ever get. I don't believe that countless trillions of dollars just sitting in the coffers of the very few is of great benefit to the advancement of the human race or this planet.

Unfortunately, my views make me unpopular with most. I am not a hippy, nor am I a communist. I am just a person who sits back and thinks 'how can the world get better' surely the current tried and tested method over the past few thousand years has failed? If there is another sulotion, I'd love to know.

Sorry for the deeply philosophical hijacking of this thread. I just thought I'd get what was in my mind out to demonstrate I am generally a reasonable man, with, mostly, reasonable thoughts!

I hope that I do not see a huge pan European / Worldwide war. I have a family, I imagine any sane person anywhere in the world would feel the same way.

I agree with you and will leave it at that with this poem.
I think it describes in a beautifull way what we both think of and can agree upon.

It is from a WW-1 monument at ypres.

So the curtain fell, over that tortured country of unmarked graves and unburied fragments of men: Murder and massacre: The innocent slaughtered for the guilty: The poor man for the sake of the rich: The man of no authority made the victim of the man who had gathered importance and wished to keep it. ”

All I know about Russia is it has the worst drivers on the planet, the most dash-cams on the planet, and the word "Bliyat" is almost as fun to say as "F$%k". The internet is a better place because of you Russia. Thanks!
