Default Anyone drive a Rogue?

Anyone drive a Rogue? Do you like it? Have any problems with it?

I bought a 2015 Mazda CX5 last year instead of a Rogue because, among some reasons, Car & Driver ranked the CX5 #1 in the small SUV category and the Rogue 12. However, this week with 24,000 miles, my transmission died. I've never heard of a car having transmission problems with 24,000 miles. It's at the dealership right now under warranty but I'm thinking that when I pick it up that I'm going to drive it straight to another dealership to dump it. I was thinking about the Rogue again but it still ranks pretty low for some reason.

Check out reviews on the Subaru Forester. I drive a 2014 Forester XT, with 38k miles. Very reliable vehicle. The Forester is a great drive and has plenty of room inside.

Coincidently, I'm looking into buying my wife an SUV and I was down to a Nissan Rogue SV Special Ed. or a Toyota RAV 4. Both drove well on the test drive. Fuel consumption is very similar. The Toyota is slightly cheaper but the Rogue comes with more. My wife was turned off by the impractical gear shifter on the RAV 4. It looks like I'll be negotiating with a Nissan salesman soon.

My coworker had a previous gen Rogue and the CVT went out, so she had it fixed. 3 months later it went out again, so she traded it in on a used Compass.

I'll second the Subaru product.

I would avoid Fiat-Chrysler vehicles like the plaque.

..... I just find that creep who does the announcing on Nissan TV ads so annoying I'd like to punch him in the throat. But that may just be me.

My friend bought a Dodge last year and ended up getting close to using the Lemon Law so they bought it back original price under the condition he bought another Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler.

That's the equivalent of shooting yourself in the leg to make your headache less painful.

Yeah, I was thinking that he made a mistake but he seems to like his new car. We'll see. I mean, he was literally one more problem away before the Lemon Law so I guess they tried to save their losses and just offer to buy him out before it was a complete loss.

The Rogue should be avoided for quite a few reasons. The only thing I could think of to sway someone to buy it would be a give-away price to help assuage the immediate massive depreciation. It's pretty darn ugle too.To that effect, Subarus have some of the highest resell values ever seen in the automotive industry. Only the Legacy has 'handsome' looks, but the whole Subaru lineup is darn near bullet-proof.

What you buy will depend on whether you know cars, or if you just like aesthetics and like getting bamboozled by the sales team during your time at the dealership.

There was an investigative reporter a couple of years ago that followed Jeep factory workers on their lunch break. They were filmed smoking pot and drinking beer. After this lunch that all went back to work building Jeeps. I'm sure the attention to quality details were lacking after that break.

Here's the video.

Subaru Forester or Toyota Rav4 is the best choice.

Honda is good but rather pricey and then there is the Insurance factor. Hondas are theft magnets

We had a 2007 Mazda 3 and two years after we got it, it began to rust. Pathetic

My wife just bought a 2016 Forester. Everything about this car is awesome; sight lines, visibility, drivability, space. It's just fun and comfortable!

Echoing what others have said; Subaru's resale is amazing. But what I really like is their no cost maintenance (at least through our dealership). No cost for 3 years, "trip checks" where they rotate tires, fill fluids, wash and vacuum, and inspect for any issues....all for no charge.

This is her 4th Subaru and won't be her last. If they sold an 8 passenger SUV (like the Infinity QX56 I drive), I'd buy it.

I bought the Rogue today but it took forever.

I went to one dealership this morning. It was such a joke. They e-mailed me a price on a car on the lot. I think the sticker price was $33k. They sent me an e-mail saying it would be $21k. I called them because it didn't sound right. I specifically said, "I just want to make sure that the price you sent me is for a SL with the premium package." They said yes. I said, "And it's $20,990 for a SL with premium package?" They said yes again.

So, I drove over there. When I talked to the sales guy, he had an index card handed to him with the stock number and $20,990 written on it. Well, when it finally came down to it they wanted $30,990.

You know, I get that typos happen but when someone specifically calls you, in a very skeptical voice, and asks you twice to verify the price and you still say yes then that becomes absurd. What really got me is that the manager was having a fit. I never once asked him to honor the price but I did complain about driving down there after I called to verify the price and he said I was being unreasonable.

So, I left and bought it elsewhere.

All the reasons we love our Forester. New larger Subaru 7 passenger SUV coming the end of next year.

You drive an 8 passenger SUV? Isn't that bigger than the plane you fly?

Obviously too late for you, but I always go through the dealership internet sales department. Negotiate the whole deal with emails, everything in writing, credit/lease approved via email. I can do these negotiations with several dealers simultaneously until I get the deal I want.

After agreeing on deal via email, it's 20 minutes at dealership signing papers and picking up car. The exception to this was last year when we flew to Germany to pick up the new BMW, but the entire process was done by email.

My advice, don't waste your time with the games the showroom salesman play to sell cars, they are all rat ba5tards.

My mother drives a 2014 Rouge which replaced her 2004 Quest, and since she doesn't like trips outside of town on her own, she sometimes gets me to drive her around. With the amount I drove it, it feels super basic, even compared to the 10 year old quest she drove before. Hopefully that 4 banger won't develop the issues that Nissan's 6 cylinder engines seem to develop at 90k (oil leaking on the camshaft sensor, thus shutting down the engine, very fun while going down the road at 40 or so and things like power steering just shut off, even more fun when it takes 3 attempts to finally remedy the issue.)

Long story short, I like the throttle responsiveness of the Nissan (since my car's (First batch 08' Mariner) responsiveness is closer to that of a Jet engine), and their handling isn't too bad either, but in the long run, I'm highly unimpressed due to reliability issues that come up around 70 to 90k, not to mention, for the same price, I could get more inside from other manufactures without all the quirks I just mentioned.

Well, so far I like it a lot more than the Mazda.

Pros:

-The entertainment system is much more responsive. The Mazda always had a delay, especially when it came to Bluetooth and switching to XM.

-The panoramic moonroof is very nice

-I like how the navigation will give additional guidance next to the speedometer in addition to the actual Nav screen.

-The fuel tank is bigger. The thing I hated about the Mazda is that I couldn't get through an entire work week without having to refuel.

-It's more comfortable.

Cons:

-The blind spot monitoring was on the side mirrors of the Mazda. It's inside on he Rogue and less visible.

-It's louder than the Mazda

As for it going out at 90k...I fully intend to get rid of it at 80,000 (I drive 17k a year) so that's fine with me if it makes it.
