I've always liked the Z3, typical of BMW in that it's a very unique design. A guy a few doors down from me has one, although it's black.
Aardvark, I'd no idea that a Ford Falcon was made in Australia. It doesn't look like any Ford I've seen in the UK. It looks a very high performance vehicle.
This thread seems to have wandered somewhat, but before I move on, this is my first car which was an East German made Wartburg 353. It had a two stroke 950cc engine. Extremely rare to see one now.

Neil, your picture shows the modernized 1984-Version of the 353 Wartburg. It had lots of plastic and black coated bumpers. Very similar was the limitedly produced 1988-89 Version, with 1,3L VW 4-stroke engine.
The original 353 dated back from 1966 and had indeed a modern bodywork for that time, but with an outdated 2-stroke engine.
I kind of like the way this thread "moved": a guy who probably just voted "leave" (Neil) and one who would definitly vote "remain" if he lived in the UK (me) and others from far away discussing peacefully about cars. I prefere this to the Willigenburg-hatred stuff.

Ford Australia manufactured a handful of cars here in Australia, but unfortunately production will cease in October after more than 50 years. The Falcon has been Australia's most popular car.
That yellow car you can see against the fence is also a Ford Falcon. The other car in the garage is a Holden Statesman.
I wouldn't call the G6 a high performance car, but it does accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (63 mi/h) in about 7 seconds. Turbocharged and V8 variants of the Falcon are much faster.
I grown up looking at the 6-Series (E24) from 1976 to 1989 as one of the most iconic cars ever built. I still plan to buy one of them one day, but it's not easy because the later models are mostly in bad shape and the most older ones (with Karmann-bodywork) had already been scrapped.
As the E32 (1987 7-Series) arrived, it looked for me (10 yr. old Romanian boy) like a starship. We had at that time very few in Bucharest, mostly at embassades, they arrived in lots only after 1990. As for the E31 (1989 8-Series) I didn't really like it at the beginning because it was the replacement for my beloved E24, but now it's a classic.
I know somebody in Freiburg-im-Breisgau who bought an 850i in the early 1990ies and drove it until 2014 or so, for 450.000km and never changed anything except for oil and other fluids, filters, windscreen wipers and brakes. Was really a great car.
I would like to buy an Z1 one day. It was a small Roadster based on the E30 (Neil's car) but with a completely different look and only the 2,5i engine. It was the only car at that time that could run with open doors, as the doors folded into the shell:
It was build only as a limited production model and now you can't find one in a good shape for less then 30.000-40.000€.

I bought my 353 new in 1976, and having researched a little more, this is the version I owned, with this more old fashioned chrome radiator grill. It cost me around €850 inc tax. Before being wealthy enough to buy a BMW, over several years I owned two Ladas, three Skodas, and of course, the Wartburg.
Aardvark, Until today, I had not heard of the Holden name. It's part of the GM empire then. I see from some pics on the net, that they have made their own versions of what we see as Opels and Vauxhalls over here.

Neil, I learned something today from you: I never would have thought that the GDR exported the 353 in the UK. Of course I knew there were Ladas and Skodas and even Romanian Dacias because they were selling (or trying to sell them, as for the Dacia) everywhere in Europe, but I have never seen or heard of a Wartburg 353 as a right-side drive vehicle.
The funny thing is that Wartburg was exporting the older model 311 ff. even in the USA - the cabriolet was a pretty well looking car for that time.

It's somewhat mixed - 80% American GM and 20% Opel/Vauxhall.
Result at this time: Remain 48.1%. Leave 51.9% I have to admit that as a British citizen, I am surprised at the result. By the look and sound of the media here, it's taken the powers that be by surprise too.

Of course it is not the end of the world.
The country will continue to exist, the people will continue to go to live.
But we will speak again in 3 years time.
I heard it will take 2 years to wrap-up the exit from the EU.
So add on a year of 'independence' and then we can talk again.
By the way, the world sure has changed a lot since 1940.
And this isn't a war.
The majority has spoken, so all must have to live with the decision.
The one's who wanted to stay can 'thank' their fellow countryman in due course for their insight and foresight.

I'm not sure that's quite true. Until a few years ago, I was a committed EU fan, but not now. IMO, many things within Europe and the world have now changed. I voted yes 40 years ago, to join the EEC as it was known then, I did NOT vote for a political union, neither did a great many others. In my neighbourhood, the anti migrant sentiments were common, as was the resentment of the 'great and good' ie, business leaders, bankers, celebs etc, scaremongering and making 'threatening' noises about the consequences of Brexit. That played straight into the hands of the Brexit league. I had never seen such ques as there were at our local polling station last night, so I had a feeling that the national turn out was going to be substantial. I have to admit to being shocked at the eventual result, as were the remain group I think.

I'm confused why the voter turn out was only 72.2% (granted this is better than the American turn out for Presidential elections) considering the implications of the vote.
I would be concerned if nearly 20 million people (80% of the population of Australia) didn't care about nearly every aspect of their nations future.
The Financial services around M25 are going to be hammered if BREXIT passes. I work an affilate financial services division of a large French Group based that's in London (Company is French but my divisions HQ is in the UK).
Quite simply: the financial traders in London are in a panic about it.
For us, BREXIT is a disaster. If BREXIT passes we would lose access to the single European markets (as the German FM confirmed last week) which is the core of our business and would likely mean that my company would be forced to move its operations back to France (something that would make the French Government very happy).
Its so serious, that I have actively started looking for new employment as if my division is folded back into the main group in France I could likely lose my job as I wont be needed anymore. I have job interviews throughout the week.
If BREXIT passes the biggest cheer won't be from the "leave" side, it will be from the French agricultural Unions whom have been fighting the importation of UK Meat into France for decades.
I could go on about how terrible an idea this is, but I'll just work myself up, but I'll leave it with this. If BREXIT passes everyone will suffer...and no-one worse than the UK.
