Default STAR WARS Stuff

First of all...No Spoilers.

Yes I have seen it. I am lucky to be in France at the moment and the Movie came out 2 Days before everywhere else (no idea why), maybe JJ wants a Palme d'or next year or something...

If you are a Star Wars, and are still recovering from the PREQUELS..GO SEE IT.

Seriously..its not perfect (there are a few details that don't make alot of sense) but its a heck of a ride. The hype is real for once. JJ nailed it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That being said,

The real point of this thread. STAR WARS Models

Right now there appear to be only two options..Disney's overpriced models and Legos. I don't like the scale of the Disney stuff, the Legos are really expensive.

Anyone have any experience with either? Does anyone know any other authorized manufacturers? (Be Awesome if HM got a licensing agreement).

I am actually thinking of Legos, because the Disney stuff looks really cheap (aside from the price tag).

Thoughts?

I have a lot of Star Wars Lego models. Very nice to built and very nice to see.
I also collect the Star Wars UCS models: UCS = Ultimate Collector Set. Expensive but a lot of pieces for building, ranging from 1000 till more than 5000 (Milennium Falcon). The old releases are very hard to find and ... VERY EXPENSIVE on Ebay (talking about 1000 Euro and even more). After their releases, the prices are going very quick very high (let's say after 1 or 2 years).

The marketing for Star Wars crap is beyond pathetic. Everywhere I look either in real life, the internet, or TV, there is shameless plugging for SW junk. I recently saw a Darth Vader CHRISTMAS STOCKING! Seriously?

I will see the movie, and then spend not one single cent on any SW merch. I will not discuss this movie with anyone as the hype is just really over the top and I am over it before I see it on Monday.

I saw it last night and it was amazing. I'm not a major Star Wars fan myself, and I really enjoyed it.

Aside from that, the marketing is getting ridiculous.....from Verizon to Dodge to even Covergirl of all things.

I thought it was all intense, then I walked into my Student Store and they had CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY sweatshirts and shirts with Yoda and Vader.... that is over the top.

I have the large scale, pre painted Revell first generation X Wing fighter, the Revell pre painted Shuttle Tyderium, and the Hasbro black X Wing from the new movie. The first two models I bought myself, the third was a birthday gift. Seeing the movie next week, looking forward to it

I saw the original movies in the theater in the 70's. Now as a dad, I bought them on dvd to share with my kids. All I heard..."this sucks", "looks so fake", "what a cheap movie". What do you expect from kids of today spoiled by today's special effects. You can't compare the originals with the newer movies.

I remember the names being taken at local toy stores for when the Kenner action figures arrived. Is it the Jawa with the cloth or vinyl cape in pristine condition is worth a fortune?

All I can say is that Disney are pulling out all stops to recoup their $4 Billion purchase of the Star Wars Franchise...thats the only thing that makes sense.

Just started to get into the HotToys line...they have the license for SW, Iron Man, Avengers...just about every possible license out there.

They have released some 1/6 scale figures from the the original SW (Ep4 - Obi-wan, Luke in Stormtrooper Disguise, Darth Vader, Sandtrooper, Stormtroopers, Spacetroopers...like the ones standing by the turret as the Millenium Falcon was brought into the hangar bay), the Dark Trooper from the EU, and beginning to see Ep7 figures coming out (First Order Stormtrooper). A bit pricey, don't think selling for anything less than $200.

So are the commercial tie-in's to Star Wars. Tonight I'm watching a Subway SW commercial, followed my an AT&T SW commercial, on the Conan O'Brien Star Wars special. The over hype is annoying.

No kidding! Saw some of the Michael Jackson still posted here, but decided to focus on the Star Wars and Iron Man suits lines.

First caught wind of HotToys a couple of years ago when they released the 1989 Batmobile and had just announced the Tumbler. Thought I missed out since a lot of online stores in the States were sold out, and didn't think much about it because my biggest problem is how to ship it from the US to China.

Recently I was browsing Taobao (China's eBay) when I saw HotToys Iron Man line because I was looking for the Hulk Buster (this is going to be a beaut!). Did a bit more looking and found the '89 Batmobile, Tumbler, Pod and The Bat still all available here in China. Shipping problem solved, finance problem begins.

Where you lucky enough to get the MF UCS. I missed out and now really and wishing for a re release of it so I can get one at a good price. I got the Star Destroyer, Tie Interceptor, Snowspeeder, Y wing and old X wing in the UCS. Nice models for sure.

I am a collector of Star Wars Lego.. I have a cabinet full of a big X-Wing fighter and some smaller ground vehicles and the collection is growing fast..

Its a shame that the ANA Models will not be in my collection (if I can afford it).. Hoping for PH they will make some models..

If you compare the ANA "Star Wars" logo liveries to the ANZ "Lord of the Rings" liveries, to me the ANA scores a big fat 0. Just don't look good on the real aircraft, model would be just as bad. Probably when I was buying I collected very few special liveries.

I got my brother in law a set of the campbell's soup cans with the Star Wars labels as a joke xmas gift and spent all of $6 on them. He is someone who would actually spend $2,500 on a Lego Millennium Falcon set though, so despite them being a joke of sorts i think he actually appreciated them.
