Default buying experiences

okay guys... fire away.

i think there's some good buyer's guide in here somewhere so commit it to memory and put it to good use.

that said, i have dealt with new members in this forum and the experience has been excellent (some sellers do come in here since they wanna ensure that their babies find excellent subsequent homes too)... and yes, some collectors have been really kind to let go of their babies at far less than the market price knowing that they'll be in the hands of someone who appreciates these babies for what they are and will take good care of them. i count richardo79, truss20 and aircanada881 amongst these trusted sellers.

i've been pretty fortunate so far with only one case of crappy customer service from a bloke who i reckon just didn't wanna part with his item because of a bad bargain on his part. i found it hard to believe that someone who had hundreds of successful trade ratings simply got a "free international shipping" option in ebay wrong... and even if he had got it wrong, it was his mistake and should've honoured the sale anyway. seeing as it was an ebay transaction and payment by paypal to boot... i got my full refund and he got his negative feedback (and of course deleting his less than pleasant messages thereafter)

i've also had excellent service from lacorun (well, i guess some of you haven't but i'm pretty much satisfied with my dealings with them), aiken's, flying tigers and dai kong raymond. credit is given where credit is due... and william from hobby master has been exceptional.

as i said, fire away guys...

First off, this is from a Cunuckistanian. I have had no grief from Steve at Diecasteairplanes.com [in spite of me giving him a ton], they always have a discount code , response to emails is prompt courteous and helpful, models well packaged good selection of all scales. Have bought from Adamjet, best packaging of any vendor I have used. Good selection and on occasion 20% or more off sales. Trevor at ARD is great and given the diversity of some of the product, my go to for hard to find [ TCA Vanguard].
Bought from Flying Tiger concurrent with the ownership change and would go back again for a model not available on this side of the pond. I watch ACB daily as their new releases pages are updated with alarming frequency.

In Canada, have bought from the CASM here in Ottawa, CWH www.warplane,com in Hamilton, Modellerschoice in Hamilton, Merritec Diecast in the GTA are all recommended. The websites for both Threshold and Aviationworld didn't refect stock when I visited and AW in particular has not followed through on 2 pre ordered items. I gather the YVR Aviation world location has been sold and the new owner is making positive changes. Anybody in YVR update that please?

No waffling.

Bill

The YVR store is indeed back up and running under the name Flight City. The owner is fantastic! Definitely worth a visit if your by YVR.

I have yet to visit that place since roughly 2011 or 2012 when it was still thriving under the Aviation World moniker however once the original owners sold it all went down hill. I'll stop by sometime to see how the new place is !

No disagreement on that TC. It does perhaps show that they should be.
