Anyone hear have lots of experience with USPS shipping? I sent a model down to Dallas from Vancouver. Left Jan 19,three scans in Canada,no scans in America. I always send parcels with tracking, but this one is not being scanned for some reason. I take pride in packaging up models, and making sure all documents are clear about contents and value. Correctly addressed..... Other times,I have sent models, and they have a dozen scans. You can totally follow it. I know, don't panic,I just don't like having the money in my Paypal account, and the customer doesn't have the model.

You can't count on USPS to scan anything for sure. They usually do but there are certainly times when they don't. I've seen packages remain in "Package info sent to USPS" after the package was shipped and delivered meaning it was never scanned anywhere along the line. They say tracking is not a guaranteed deal, it's more of a courtesy. But your package will most likely be fine.

OK thanks. I will try not to worry about it. I simply don't like disappointing people. It didn't disappear off the face of the earth,it's obviously somewhere en route. Thanks again.

Yes, I've had the same happen to some of my packages from the US

I have found any parcel from Canada with tracking to the USA normally shows the Canadian Scans the arrival in the USA and the the delivery scan. I have switched to a company here in Mississauga who uses the USPS. They then deliver to a US Postal station, far cheaper and faster than Canada Post

Is this company available to the general public,or for business use only?

Is it a GTA only company or can the rest of us in Canuckistan use it?
I do know the Canada Post system has numerous scan points BUT if the system gets swamped as it did several times before XMAS, the scans dont seem to register on the servers for the mid point activities

I actually had a USPS agent tell me that scanning was a courtesy not mandatory?????? I pay for tracking so that I know and the buyer knows where the package is. So if what she said is accurate,I only payed for the scans in Canada? That's a fifteen minute drive to the airport and two scans?

I believe USPS uses a similar architecture to Canada Post, everything gets scanned for a bar code. The issue maybe that the servers don't talk well. The scans once the item is in process are often done automatically. Did you try the number on both the CP and USPS sites?
It is a company open to any one ship with but are located on the the GTA .

During a recent trade with a collector in the US, we each provided each other with the tracking codes for the packages. The Canada Post tracking number works on the USPS tracking site, and vice versa. Therefore, once your package crosses the border, use that countries' postal service site to track your package. If its around the december holiday season, it should be expected there may be hiccups. but hopefully this little tidbit helps
Thanks for everyone's input. I do use the USPS site to track when shipping to America. I just shake my head, sometimes I can have something like ten scans from a to b. Sometimes, not one. I don't think customs is the hold up. It's a $35.00 model airplane, they aren't going to be to concerned. If they are, open it up,receipt is inside for proof. My wife says I get to stressed about things sometimes. She does have a point. I'm sure everything will be fine, and the plane will mysteriously appear.

If you are worried about Paypal refunding your customer out of your account you are worrying for nothing. You sending the item and having it tracked into the postal system is enough that you did your part. That is what the Ebay seller protection is about. You can even open a claim for a lost item with Canada Post and get a full refund including postage costs. They will refund you 100%.
I also ship my Ebay sales with tracking too cover my butt, it's peace of mind.

Not worried about the money in the least. I have Canada Post on it already looking for it. Someone bought a model from me,I did my part, and they don't have the model. Like I have let them down. That's just how I am wired. A little disappointed with USPS for not scanning at all,but that has been discussed. It is an Ebay sale. I take pride in my Ebay sales. One customer messaged me when he received his model and said I had it packaged like it was going to be shot out of a cannon. All I can do is wait. Really, what else can I do?

Last November I had a package shipped from Vancouver to DC with tracking info. with the last in message showing intransit. It arrived and was still shown as intransit.
Maybe just a wee-off topic, but for those who periodically use FedEx Ground for short over the US/Canada border shipments, there is a large lag between drop-off and first scan showing up. My experience shows close to 2 days. Best to be patient with this one in the event you choose to use it.
My preference is still with Canada Post/USPS (& tracking) in most cases.
