Default Can we please get some moderation on this forum?

Dear Owners/Admins,

Any chance of a moderator or two just to keep things in order?
It'd be for the greater good - I think.

Cheers,
Ben

Perhaps you should read the other thread regarding "trolls". Bottom line, why do you even care? Those of us who are participating in these so-called trolling threads do so knowingly. This has become the "wild wild west" sub forum... Most of us also have active participation on the original modeling-based threads...

I was thinking the same thing Steve; a mass exit. And to all members, make sure your inventory is up to date and printed before leaving.

This certainly is the 'Wild West' of all of the forums I associate with, it does seem pathetic that there is next to no moderation

I see where you're coming from with this Ben. But as others here have intimated, if something offends, avoid it, and just don't respond. It shouldn't be like that, but that's the way it is.

Nothing has offended me, and I do ignore it anyway! It's not a huge issue for me but I can tell it is for some. As you said, it shouldn't be as it is and it's be nice to see it improve a bit.

Forums without moderation will always devolve into the lowest common denominator. Let's face it - a lot of people are pretty angry at the way things are going in the world. A forum that allows venting is one way to blow off some of that anger. As Steve said earlier, sometimes after we post angry or "over the top" responses "us posters" can feel some remorse. I know I do. Having said that I also admit enjoying the venting process at times. I guess that means I'm in the "angry" category too. The world is a mess. We're pretty powerless to do much about it, so we all need to vent sometimes.

Okay, well if the majority agree that a model airplane forum is the place to vent this anger towards the worlds problems then I suppose that settles it.

Personally I don't care too much, but I just thought it'd be a nice idea to get some sort of moderation around here to prevent things from going 'out of control'.

I agree these topics don't really belong on D.A.C. but since the General Squawk Forum is here, it's kept away from the more important function of D.A.C. Sadly things get pretty heated on the "real" forums here without moderation. I'd rather see moderation in the "meat and potatoes" forums. Civility there makes sense. On this sub-forum, let it all hang out. Maybe that will keep the hostility levels lower where we all read about our hobby. Just my opinion, but if you don't like it - stick it! Sorry, I couldn't resist to throw a troll comment in

I was generalising, and not intending to imply that it was you being offended. At the end of the day, this section of the forum can be something of a 'bear pit' Some of the comments posted can be amusing at times

If you are offended by things that you see on the internet then you should probably just unplug your computer and give it away to someone who isn't as thin-skinned.

Agreed, I don't think anyone is offended - but I still recommend bringing in moderators. Don't forget, there's also the issue of spam.

If we had any moderators, maybe they just gave it all up as a lost cause.

I have an idea … let's all start SWEARING to each other and sharing POSTING illicit photos of non-airliner related topics … do you think THAT could wake them up? :roll eyes:

That might do it, but no guarantees, as the ownership here seems rather preoccupied these days.

In other words, just keep doing what we're doing on the Squawk Talk thread?

Based on current experience, no moderators work on this forum. Heck, I can always try it out tonight by posting some NSF (not safe for work) pics in a new thread and see what happens.

Yup, I think you hit the nail on the head. And those bloody adverts (and fecking pop-ups) just equal money. Obviously all MASMEDIA are interested in.

I think it is time to consider packing up and moving on . . . *sigh*
