Default Being in the city vs Airport?

Question for you guys, can you count being in the airport as being in the state/city? Here are some of my examples:

DFW (Been in Texas but not Dallas)
TPA (Been in Florida but not Tampa)
SLC (Never been in Salt Lake City nor Utah)
SEA (Never been in Washington nor Seattle)
ORD (Never been in Illinois nor Chicago)
CLT (Never been in North Carolina nor Charlotte)

I guess technically you could for the state but in all those cases I never actually left the airport...

Of course you can. The airport physically exists on a tangible piece of earth on a set of defined global coordinates. If those coordinates appear inside the boundaries of a known state, then by way of deduction, it is part of said state. Now the city part could be misleading somewhat. For instance, ORD is actually part of Rosemont and Schiller Park, I believe, but it is "technically" part of Chicago via a very narrow strip of land that connects the two entities. Even though the airport physically exists away from the city proper, you could still technically say you were in Chicago.

Birmingham, Alabama, Phoenix, and San Diego. Had lay overs at those airports, but never left the terminal area.

"count" for what purpose? is a lawyer asking you under oath whether you have been to the city of dallas?

if you're just talking to friends, and talking about cities you've been to, then no, i would not say you experienced and saw dallas just because you connected through DFW.

I assume that was on Southwest like your name suggests, because I can't imagine how else somebody could have a layover in Birmingham Alabama. barring a diversion due to issues at Atlanta.

Was indeed on Southwest. All three cities were on SWA.

Who cares about the City, it's the airport that's important!
