Default SUPER BOWL Predictions?

Seattle Seahawks - 34
Denver Broncos - 23

Still think the my hometown Chargers could have pulled off an upset of the Broncos if Philip Rivers had played all four quarters instead of just the final 15 minutes.

BTW ... does Peyton Manning have a "hole" in the side of his forehead?

Denver Broncos 20, Seattle Seahawks 17 - you can take that to the bank. Anyhow, it should be a good game, but why would you spend $2,500 for a ticket (you actually can) to see it live? Rather spend that for diecast airliners (which I'm fairly sure most of us already have). Later, Doug

Please, for the love of god let this be true. I can not stand Seattle at all.

However, I think it's going to be a low scoring game.

Denver 13
Seattle 10

Yeah that's true. But for us Canucks we get stuck with the lame canadian commercials!!! T7 (Go Broncos! Peyton deserves another ring after the Colts gave up on him after his neck surgery!)

Denver = 42

Seagulls = 28

I am officially eating all of my words. That has got to be the worst Super Bowl I have ever seen in my entire life. From the first snap of the game, I knew what the outcome would be. A complete and comprehensive epic fail by Denver. Just simply embarrassing to watch. Congratulations Seattle.

I totally agree with you. What a stinker of a game, I turned it off after the 2nd half kickoff return for a touchdown by the Seahawks! That was game over period, 12 seconds into the 2nd half! I will have some ketchup with my bowl of words to eat on as well. Big congrats to the Seahawks!

We live 140 miles from Seattle, and I am watching the local CBS station coverage. People are going nuts. Congratulations to the Seahawks. They have been waiting since 1976. Denver is a very good team, not sure why they were out of sorts tonight?

Big Congrats to the Seahawks who took a chance on Wilson two years ago! This man has accomplished so much in the NFL in 2 years, that many in the NFL will never see = owning a Super Bowl Ring!! I think he has the last laugh for all the other teams that passed on him; saying he wasn't the ideal QB sizewise. But, that's not his character to enjoy the last laugh = Very classy and humble guy and I wish him all the best in his very young NFL career; awesome role model for kids/adults alike. Cheers! T7

Prior to the 2012 NFL Draft, Wilson had been projected by NFL scouts and analysts to be a middle-round pick.[56] In February 2012, former NFL quarterback and director of the IMG Madden Football Academy Chris Weinke said of Wilson, "If he was 6–5, he'd probably be the No. 1 pick in the draft."[53] On April 11, 2012, ESPNMonday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden said, "The only issue with Russell Wilson is his height. That might be the reason he's not picked in the first couple rounds."

Russell Wilson was selected by the Seahawks with the 12th pick in the third round (75th overall) of the NFL 2012 draft.

The goat of the game award should go to the Denver coaching staff. The Broncos were less prepared for the Super Bowl then any team that i have seen in past 20 years. There was almost as much laughing (at the Broncos epic play fails) in the sports bar as there was cheering for the Hawks. The people who really know football did predict a Seahawk win. The rest of everybody else was drinking a lot of yellow Bronco 'kool-aid'.

I couldn't care less about the Super Bowl. I find it mildly amusing that the game was such a blowout. Just glad it's over. I hate football. Guys who like it are just trying to be macho and relive their "glory days" from high school or college. Girls who like it are sluts who are just trying to impress/get the attention of said male fans. Bring on baseball season, I say. (Though I don't really care about it, either, but it's slightly better than football.)

I went to my gym tonight during the game. Predictably, it was a ghost town. Awesome!!!

Go 'Hawks! As any true fan of any team from the Pacific Northwest can understand, the Washington team curse is real. This event happening in the way it did was the ultimate setup for failure that never happened. What we hoped for in January 2006, and when the Mariners were actually good. So this dominant win over a Peyton led Bronco team (former rival), will always be cherished. Especially for the old folk who have been fans from the very beginning in '76.

That's my boy. Now we're talking. Actually I, like others, can't stand football (American). Frankly once Chicago was out of the running, my interest went from mild amusement to zilch. I'm looking forward to baseball though, and hopefully the White Sox can rise above the horrid season they had last year. It was so gut-wrenching to watch them just barely win 100 games.

I heard the multi million dollar per 30 second commercials sucked as well this year. Nick, I'm not going to bash football but I just don't see the excitement of such a slow game. The game drags out to about 4 hours!!!
Congrats to Seattle but bring on hockey anytime.

That's a REALLY insensitive and IMMATURE statement. I never played organized football as a kid yet I LOVE the sport; its excitement and physicality. College football can be even MORE competitive.

Your comments are INSULTING and thoughtless - just because YOU don't like it doesn't give you the right to judge others who do.

That's utterly ABSURD.

Hey M1, don't feed the troll! Oh wait, that was me who posted that.

Seriously, this is the internet. When browsing it, put on your big boy pants, don't get offended so easily, and learn to recognize hyperbole and sarcasm.

My comments were absurd, of course. I didn't think anyone would take such a ridiculous blanket statement so seriously. I apologize for upsetting you.

Hey Mike … apologies accepted thanks … but as you said, this IS the Internet and people type all kinds of things. Unless you KNOW that person personally, you have NO idea if that person is being himself of being facetious.

I read your original post several times, and I could NOT sense any sort of sarcasm in it - and I casually KNOW you. And even then, after "further review" (football pun) I could not find it in me to give you the benefit of the doubt - that you were essentially joking.

That's when I took it the wrong way - can you imagine a total stranger reading what you typed? There is NO way anyone else would ever cut you any slack. You made it pretty clear (in my opinion) what your feelings were, and even made very crude derogatory remarks about male football fans' girlfriends being "sluts". Obviously I know NOW that you were joking - but if anyone, you should realize there are going to be those who DON'T realize if you're speaking truth or hyperbole - and should err on the side of being safe and careful in what you type.

In the case of Tupolev, EVERYTHING that emanates from his keyboard or mobile device is hyperbole. Again, he has a reputation - and to my mind, you do NOT. End of my explanation.

As far as the Super Bowl, I personally am in a state of casual disbelief that my Seahawks have actually won the Lombardi Trophy. I've been fans of theirs' since the Jim Zorn to Steve Largent connection, and have been thru ALL of their ups and downs - the Brian Bosworth experiment, and most recently their last foray into the Super Bowl (XL) vs the Pittsburgh Steelers - aka as the "Jerome Bettis Retirement Party". The one where referee Bill Leavy admitted 4 years later, in March of 2010, that he "kicked" a couple key calls which "affected the outcome of the game". Calls such as "phantom pass interference" which negated an early Seahawks touchdown; and a second half holding call on Sean Locklear which negated a first-and-goal at the 1-yard line - instead backing them up another 10 yards - with the subsequent Matt Hasselbeck pass being intercepted and run back to midfield. After all the ebbs and flows of the past 37 years have really taken a toll on my dedication to Seattle professional sports - whether it be the Seahawks, Mariners, or the former-Sonics (now the Oklahoma City Thunder).

So with all the pain and suffering of being a Seattle sports fan, the Super Bowl victory is almost an "impossible dream", one that can't POSSIBLY come true for me (and lifelong Seattle sports fans). It's always been one "heartbreak" or another - one cruel defeat or situation that ultimately is NEVER in Seattle's favor. One more example. In 2001, the Mariners tied the ALL-TIME record for victories at 116 … an incredible feat. They were picked to go all the way and win the World Series, as they were virtually unbeatable that year. Well, as it turned out, unfortunately for our country of course, 9/11 happened and threw everything out of kilter. Sports was an afterthought, and our country went into mourning and later recovery. But the distraction of the event, and the mass outpouring of sympathy for New Yorkers - the team went into a funk and lost their momentum - eventually losing the AL Championship Series to the Bronx Bombers 4-1.

Oh yeah … I forgot to mention that the former NBA Commissioner David Stern orchestrated the move of the Sonics, a 40-year institution in Seattle with a SOLID fan base, to be sold to his cronie Clay Bennett - who bought the team and "promised" to keep them in Seattle, only to hold the city for ransom unless city/state officials agreed to public funding for a new $500M sports palace - without which the team would be moved immediately following the 2008 season. You can call David Stern anything you want, but after that he was MUD to all us Seattle loyalists - not to mention Starbucks CEO Howard Schulz who SOLD the team to Bennett knowing FULL WELL what was about to happen. Schulz could have easily sold the team to a consortium like Microsoft owner Steve Ballmer and other wealthy Seattle-ites, but the whole deal was orchestrated by Stern & said cronies to work against Seattle …

Anyways … I'm looking forward to the massive parade scheduled for downtown Seattle tomorrow - maybe after that it will all sink in and feel "real". GO SEAHAWKS!!!

You have valid points, and in the future, I will make sure to clarify when I am joking... or maybe I should work harder to earn a reputation that precedes me, like Tupi. I DO hate football though, for real. Well, I don't hate it, but it doesn't interest me whatsoever. I struggle to understand the intense popularity of it in our society. I'm with Howard Stern, who said in a recent interview, "I don't care about football. They could take football off the air as far as I'm concerned." And why oh why does Joe Buck get the broadcasting job for the Super Bowl every year? I can't stand him. He almost makes me not want to watch the MLB All-Star Game and World Series (about the only sporting events I intently pay attention to). At least Tim McCarver retired. He's even worse than Joe Buck. But that's enough about that.

Once again, M1, I will say publicly that I am sorry for my crude comments. We are both veterans of this board and I respect you. Re-reading my original post, it was a dumb thing to say, and I should have made it more clear that I had my tongue in my cheek. I say stupid things from time to time. You should try it sometime; it's kinda fun!

No worries … all is good … I feel a bit guilty for over-reacting but it is what it is … life is good and the Seahawks are CHAMPIONS of the NFL!

And what a glorious (but downright cold) day it was here in Seattle today. More than 700,000 fans packed the parade route today, and the fantastic 12th Man 747-8 flew the skies!!

One last Super Bowl Champion photo - this was from last year's Pro Bowl I believe - Marshawn Lynch (running back extraordinaire) aka "Beast Mode" ...

So, is the Super Bowl over? Who won? I can't believe everyone gets excited over bowling.

It's NOT over! I'm STILL relishing in the vivid imagery of MY SEAHAWKS winning their FIRST (hopefully of more to come) Super Bowl Championship! This was a very special team led by a great GM in John Schneider and an outstanding players' coach in Pete Carroll ... with the young and BRILLIANT Russell Wilson leading the offense ... and Richard Sherman guiding the INCREDIBLE "Legion of Boom" defense ... definitely one for the ages ... ENCORE!!!
