I purchased this stand online a few weeks ago having seen them in photos before, it took a while of hunting on google before I keyed in the phrase I needed to find them. The stand comes in three sizes to suit your needs. Each stand comes un-assembled in a blister pack, containing the screws, adjustable struts, base, pressure plate and instructions on the back.
You can visit their site if you would rather check them out before reading my short blurb.
FlightPose - Adjustable Display Stand for Model Aircraft and Collectibles
I purchased the 6 inch stand as it is their biggest and I thought it would be good for my large Air NZ DC-10 to be displayed on. Unfortunately, my DC-10 was too heavy but half a pound and the struts couldn't hold the weight, I tightened the screws to lock the struts in place but that was the worst thing I could have done. In doing this,, I cracked the pressure plate that lets the struts move. If I had only read the instructions on the packaging first, I woul dhave seen the weight limit and the warning not to over tighten the screws. I am not the best displayer of models nor the best photographer, but you can see by the pictures, the different ways you can display any model under 2 pounds in weight.
The struts don't adjust in length, but the position you place them underneath the aircraft will be enough to raise or lower the nose/tail to suit.
They are available to two different colors and three different sizes as i stated earlier.
All for a very reasonable price.
I have used a Polynesian Blue (Pacific Blue, Virgin Blue, pre Virgin Australia days) 1:100 scale model
Here is a link to a site selling these models should you be interested.
Good value for money, I will be buying more. Just if you do buy one, please make sure you read the instructions and dont damage the stand.
4 out of 5 stars from me, would be nicer if they could hold a little more weight. Other than that, I am happy.
