Did you send the model before payment? If not then what's the big deal. If you did send it before payment then shame on you.

The big deal is that the seller pays eBay a fee based on the auction's final winning bid. The other bidders got screwed too. They didn't get the model as they were outbid by a person who had no intention of paying. Kinda sucks IMHO.

Gee I would think you let eBay know the buyer didn't pay. Then maybe just maybe the fee on this auction doesn't have to be paid. As for the other bidders, oh well it happens every minute on eBay with people getting out bid on items. Relist it then the so called screwed bidders will have another chance.

That sucks, I ALWAYS pay at my earliest convenience, which is usually within a day. That sucks for the other people who bid that actually wanted to pay for the model...

And that is why I don't buy or sell to anyone with less than 10 feedbacks. That's 10 good feedbacks.

If you can, sell your models with fixed price listings and require immediate payment. That way the listing doesn't end until the buyer actually pays up...ergo, if he hits "Buy Now" and navigates away from the pay screen - it's like he was never there in the first place. You don't pay the final value fee, you don't have to open up a case and you dont have to wait 8 days to relist. Easy!

I'm not excusing these jerkoffs from being deadbeats, it just makes life a lot easier in dealing with them.

I hear ya on the buying part and I actually stay away from the < 50 feedback sellers like they have the cooties. But as a seller a) there's really no way to enforce that within eBay's parameters as it's against the rules to exclude anyone from bidding based on feedback number and.. b) difficult to enforce otherwise without getting negged by the low feedbacker...which won't get removed if you tell ebay why you wont sell to the guy.

If you don't want to use fixed price listings, the best thing to do is block the low feedbackers who've bid a couple days before the auction ends. That won't stop one from sniping at the last second, but it'll stop the ones who bid early because they don't know any better. It could be a double-edged sword though, the low feedbackers sometimes drive prices up.

Why? I have around 27 good feedback posts as I always pay on time and am never an issue. Would you not sell to me?

I hate ebay...very little protection for honest sellers..you cant negative feedback a buyer for non payment and thats nuts..Ive had two issues this year and both times I could not leave negative feeedback..If someone can come up with a viable competitor to ebay Im all in...

Also their policy of not allowing email addresses sent via private message also stinks..ebay stinks...

Of course I would! The person I replied to said he excludes the <10 feedback guys.. I never said I did. As a rule I do avoid buying from eBay newbies. I prefer buying from sellers who have a long history of great feedback. But chances are, if a seller has lowish feedback(all positive), and is from the US or Canada - I'll take a chance on him if it's an item that can't be had easily.

The only eBayers I would block are the deadbeats and obvious scammers.

That's why I moved most of my buying and selling to DAC
I prefer it here
Once I sold a Gemini 200 B767-200 veterans to a guy not far from me.
I sent it recorded and signed for and a few days later I tracked the parcel and found his signature on the page so I knew he had it
4 days later he emailed me to say that the model had smashed to pieces
With the wings, tail, wheels all fallen off and broken and demanded a £20 refund which in the end I payed
I know things can break in postage but that was a bit too much!
But the point is why did he not tell me the model was broken straight away an it made me think he may have smashed it?
He did show me a pic and I realised that he may have just wanted the £20 refund as the broken plane did not look exactly like my one!

Callume,
From what you are discibing, it sounds like he may have already had a broken model. He then purchased yours to replace the broken one. He then sent you pics of the broken model and demanded a refund. Unfortunately this has happened before. I could be wrong though.

The guy used global shipping program which doesn't let you combine shipping; he didn't read or was aware of details. I emailed at least 3x & no response, then he has the nerve to leave me a neutral for all five purchases he made

I reported the buyer to eBay & after a several days all five have been removed ...see ti's not all bad, they wouldn't be #1 in the world if they were truly EVIL.

I think you did the right thing by sharing this info and thank you. This is why I prefer dealing on amazon. They require you to provide your credit and bank info prior to buying so when the seller confirms a sale in about 4 weeks amazon transfers and manages payment from your bank account to the seller.

But what I don't like about amazon is there's much less diversity of products and if something is not listed, you can't sell it unless you pay. Another problem is that shipping reimbursements are fixed no matter how heavy the item so you have to make it pricy so you don't loose out on shipping. But other than that I'd prefer to deal on Amazon for reasons like these.

i was tempted to leave (not due to this one) more than once when it looked like i wasn't treated correctly; webstore. that site was rated #2 after eBay & before ebid.com

Ebay is not perfect but I've never lost any money on a sale. I have 290 positive feedback at 100% As robertjon5 said, it's easy to file an unpaid item dispute, case closed.

An unpaid item dispute does nothing...the crapass buyer suffers nothing if they dont pay..EBAY SUCKS PLAIN AND SIMPLE..they do nothing to help the seller who ironically is paying the fees and keeping them going!!!! go figure....

I talked yesterday to someone at Ebay, and apparently negative feedback for buyers is seriously being considered for reinstatement. I was told one of the reasons is sellers are clicking on positive, but the comment can say anything they want. We will see. Also,a HUGE number of complaints.

Filing an unpaid item dispute should release you from paying the final value fee, unless you're dealing with a buyer who not only isn't paying but who also won't let you get away with that. The way it works is simple: if the buyer doesn't respond to the claim in 7 days then you can force close the case and not pay the final value fee. If he responds by saying he doesn't want to cancel the transaction but doesn't pay either, then you're dealing with a first class moron.
