Default Painting ceiling sky blue/ clouds.

Hello all,

Last weekend I had a contractor to install the LED lights over my display cabinets and when the job was almost done, I heard a thundering crack following with two legs dangling down from the ceiling and lots of expletives outcries. He stepped on the sheet rock on the celing and almost went through the roof! Now there is a large 5X4 feet defect that is patched up but still needs to be repainted. I am thinking of painting the entire ceiling sky blue with white clouds since the whole ceiling needs to repainted any way. I have had some quotes from mural artists but quite expensive (700 bucks plus) so I am going to DIY. Anyone has any experience that can share with me? I already poured over YT for some hints and techniques. Thanks DP

I did that sky blue and clouds using a sponge technique. Its time consuming, but the overall effect looks great. The room size was 12 x 15ft.

Depending on the effect you want, GREY clouds with white edges may look much more realistic. Using only white paint will often get you "cartoon" clouds.

Agreed with the sponge technique. Keep light coats do not get too much paint on the sponge at a time, or it will be blotchy on the ceiling. Add some yellow to the white/grey paint to simulate the sun gracing the clouds edges.

I got a pro to paint my wall a few years ago. She used sponges and charged me $300.00 for the three hour job.
