Hello ,
i am intrerested in this 1/150th Mahogany Model
Ethiad A340-500

I would be cautious about the appearence of this particular model because the picture that they have posted is a photo of a real airliner pasted onto a stand.

That's a pretty lousy cut & paste, too.

Yes that's all photoshop. They take pics of actual a/c and paste a model stand under it. Don't fall for it. The final product will be quite different unfortunately.

Speaking to this Philippines mahogany models..I have got a few of them in 18" in lenght (Qantas B737/B747/A330/A380). Their quality is not that bad but if you are a picky person. Please do not consider due to the fact they are sometimes..
1. colour not match
2. no gears
3. hand paint (no decals) which is worst in small titles/letters
4. very basic details (e.g. Logo/door/window only)

The mahogany wood modelplane seems to be survived inside my glass cabinet after 2 years now and everything ok...obviously thanks to our Sydney weather but if you live in a 40C + country, that could be different. After all these, I still like my mahogany wood models as they are better in price/size and they improved a lot now (say engine fan blade/fin antenna/glossy finish/nice wooden stand when compare to the old days version....good luck in hunting a good model builder in Philippines/ebay....

i have 3 custom models. i have had them for about 5 years now. the only thing really wrong is at least one antenna is missing from each model. probably broke off while moving at some point.

but as stated earlier, the models are hand painted instead of decals. depending on the complexity of the colour scheme and the talent of the painter, the model willnot be as good as a decal applied model.

all of my models have a clear coat finish. i am actually trying to find someone that can re-do the paint job, or apply decals to the two PY models.

I have many of these. Some are very well made and some are basic.I have a Junkers which actually has the grooves as well. Some have lesser details with ANtenna and and some have no detail. Depens on the manufacturer and the price.
