Hi Bill-ay....All the panel lines are ingraved/recessed
Thanks !!!!!I just try to duplicate the wings from the photos...i try..
Oh nice....looks like you put a light wash in the panels? Hey, have you used Promodellers wash before? Absolutely GREAT stuff, and comes off like a charm.

Re: Brad Shinn Continental DC-10
Looks like a $1,000.00 work order anything less than that would be an injustice to all that great work.
BTW I,d use nazca's detail set on this but then again that's just me .
Brad, although for an amateur it is ok work, you still have a long way to go before you join the big-leagues. Glaring errors I noticed:
1-The part # from all the window shades are missing
2-The mx panel on the underside of the wing should have 12 access screws instead of 10
3-The top of the main landing gear struts (inside wing) should have PSI info
4-Each brake uses a 12-puck system, not a ten-puck system
5-The potable water service door has 3 snap buttons, not 2.
6-Each windscreen is missing their part #'s
7-The tire valve stems should be black, not dark graphite (this was unique to Continental)
Maybe one day, when you get good, I can commission you to build me a Western DC-10.

You forgot to mention the FE panel schould be a lighter shade of grey and only a small portion schould fill the starboard side c/w!

And furthermore ... seriously ... it looks like a SUPER-detailed solid cast resin model rather than a hollow-bodied polystyrene injection-molded piece of ... errrrrrrrrrrrr ... WORK of ART!!!
Brad, once again your work makes me envy the person who will own this model.
Thanks!!!!!!!

Thanks Al....Your L-1011 looks great!!!!!
I haven't really looked at the gear yet. Saving that surprize for later
Thanks Adam very much!
Oh my ... that's one gorgeous lookin' bird ... the thing that isn't evident is the scale of this "puppy" as it pretty large isn't it Brad? My guess is that the fuselage is close to 2 feet long right?
Can't get over the passenger windows ... looks like you could peek inside to see what the passengers are having for lunch ... oh I forgot ... they don't serve lunch anymore ...
I've not been on the forum long but have seen your name and the high level of skills you have mentioned in various threads. This is the first example of your 'in progress' work I've seen in chronological order and I'm very impressed.
A year or two ago I used to repaint models, diecast 1/76 scale buses though, not planes, most of the time they were quite easy to work with. I've still got all my tools, paints, spray and spray 'guns'; I'm tempted to have a go myself however I definately won't be up to the standards you've set... that bar is way too high! Just love the extended flaps and fine detailing on the engines.
I really like the DC-10 as well as this version of the CO livery so I for one look forward to seeing it when you've finished.
Adam

Originaly I wanted to make this beast into a Red Meatball livery. Much too diffacult to find decals for that quest. It is a monster at 23" long and with plenty of nose weight too.
Go for it...Build a DC-10. If you need any tips or help just ask ok.
Thank You for your kind support too!!!!

Running out of hanger space on this one. Not much smaller than that 1/72 707.
Man I can't wait till completion...This has been a top 5 ball-buster to build. My back is really toast and I don't want to rush this monster just to finish her. It's gotta look close to the real N68043 in my eye's and the collector's.

Hi Brad,
I'm afraid 1/100 is out of my league, no where to put one for a start unless I start and hang them from the ceilings at home but don't think my wife would be too keen.
I've just bought a Hasegawa MD-11 kit from eBay which I'm going to have a crack at; I saw quite a few positive things said about this kit on here so will be giving it a go. Though I'm not sure about which livery to do yet.
Where is a good place to obtain the decals and aircraft paint? I've found joydecals.com, drawdecal.com and fcdecals.com which seem to be quite well stocked in terms of decals. I also used to make my own decals on my inkjet printer when I did model buses. Example of such can be seen in the two pics here in this link Optare Solo - Rural Links - YC51 GZW :: Fotopic.Net
It's the paint I'm strugling with - I know items like white, shades of grey and metallics are quite easy to get hold of in the UK from model suppliers as they're 'stock' colours but it's other colours, such as the KLM blue, British Midland blue etc that I think might be harder to locate in the UK. I just might not be looking hard enough - I don't mind buying from the US if you have any recommendations.
If you feel that I should be posing such questions in a PM instead of here, let me know and i'll switch over.
Cheers, Adam.

Hi Adam,
All or most of the paint questions can be found at airlinercafe.com. It's another great site about airliner models and stuff. Lots of keen people there to help in the paint dept. I kinda see what other builders use...I used a Tamiya blue for a KLM build that was close to the real shade of blue.
I love you photos,,,,,very good stuff. Not easy to do well done!!!
I order a lot from aviation mega store and airline hobbys. Russell at airline hobby is very kind and can help you too!!!
Take care and good luck on the MD-11....It's a great kit
Brad
That is just amazing Brad... Can't wait to see the final shots of this model!
You really have to build a Korean Air something soon...
