Man, if you can do work like THAT when your back is acting up, I'd hate to see what you can do when you're feeling healthy ... holy smokes ... that is sick ... but sick GOOD!!!

What really sets this model off besides the excellent "body work" are the engine nacelles on them JT9Ds - those suckers look like the REAL deal ... especially the trailing edges of the nacelle, or the thrust reverser's translating sleeve ... that is so sharp it looks like you could cut your finger on it!

WOW!!!

hey brad, did the wings come with the wingtip antennas molded in (not the part that juts out from the wing but the uneven bump that happens on the wing before the tips) dunno if that made sense..

Hi,

The wingtip antennas are photoetched. They must be added after wing is complete. However, I used the very end of an old Hasegawa -747-200 wing tip for the antennas. They still are fragile......

I hereby place my order for a UAL 747SP in Saul Bass livery ... OR "Stars and Bars" ... the key is finding another Platz model on eBay!

BTW ... I just can't get over the engines and pylons ... was that part of the Platz kit and were those molded in resin or plastic? The contours are just spot on!

The engines too were casted from a resin. It's a injection resin that is mush better than non-presured injected resin or plastics/styrene. After saying all that Mumbo Jumbo ;The housings for the fans were not as well shaped as the Hasegawa kit's housings. I swaped them out from a -200 kit, but kept the pylons for this SP build!!

I'm wanting to do the red meatball colors, but we're having trouble finding someone to do the decals. Plan B is current colors with decals from TwoSix.

Googling the SP and found this old thread. Just great work. I remember an SP pulled into one of the gates at the outside Pan Am parking lots. It was like seeing a Unicorn. Will never forget it.
