Sweet!!!

Dumb Q: How do you attach the wing when you've cut off the insert tab that comes moulded in?

Hi,

I sorta had to. The fuselage (contrails) is a solid resin cast with no tabs.

Is this bird going to a DAC'er?

Is Contrails still going to sell aftermarket flaps based on these?

I have the Gemini200 wavy-gravy 757; you can't go wrong with it!

Apoxy and a small brass tube is the method I will use on the resin build.

What parts are you using from Minicraft? The landing gear and tailplanes? (I wouldn't use any of the fuselage, that kit has a lot of issues)

Hi David,

I think I will use MC wings/stabs and very much re-worked PW engines. Not sure on gear yet. Contrails comes with some nice white metal struts though. I'll have to see how she sits first with both kit's gear.

The plan is also to have Contrails solid resin wings match the new built flaps/slats too.

On another note.....I'm going in for back surgery Wednsday...Grrrr. To have cervical spine fusion (slip disk)

So I want be around much after tonight.....

Hey Brad! Kit looks really good. Did you get the winglets with the kit? The 757 is my favorite commercial jet. I've been busy working on some of the 757 kits as well. The most recent one is a converted Wooster models 757-300 'flight of fancy' in Eastern's colors. I took two of their kits and used Sasquatch models 757 engines and it turned out really well. Tough work though. The Delta livery I like the most is the one introduced in 1996. Anyway, good luck!

The wings look awesome! Nice and clean. Are they going to get dirty? or are they staying as fresh out of paint hangar look? And where is the fuselage? Can't wait!

Hi Bill-ay.

Yea not to pleased with that de Guido decal bieng too transparent...No biggy though. I changed the coraguard and I was lucky and found some some old Minicraft walkways. I didnt like the other coragurd either with the black outlines. She's going to be a Delta in n/c from the old NW 757-251 pile, either N548US or N547US..???

I like the look of the passenger window layout Without that 3rd door on the sides like the old TWA's they snatched up.

.....Now to the engine inserts!!!!!

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Smoothjazz!!!....

Yea...she's going to have some stains and be a tad more from the weathered side of the clouds.

...The fuselage is still drying with a several coats of primer and needs more sanding and detailing still...Thanks,
Brad

Are you going to redo the winglets given you've chosen to do a -251 vs. a -232/231/2Q8 model?

DL-North winglets aren't painted all the way to wing vs. th DL-South birds who are.

HI Alitalia744 !

Sorry, I forgot about the N536US registration from NorthWest/Delta.

N536US or even N535US are Delta -251's with completely painted winglets. N536US is the NorthWest Gemini 200 757-251 that I am building in Delta's new livery.

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Delta...251/1616514/L/

The -251 also has the window config that I like too in the Delta 757 fleet.

Hey Brad:

How do you add the dirt marks to both the fuselage and the wings? Also is there any reason behind a particular registration that you do?

I sometimes use Tamiya Weatherene Masters paste...Or crushed up pencil lead and a dry brush.

Picking Reg#'s a request that the collector would like to have on the aircraft build. Sometimes even a certain characteristic would also be added to the build.

On this Delta 757 build however N536US or N535US I picked because of the window config and other cool trademarks as well!!

Thanks,
Brad

Brad, as always, great work on your models! I had a couple of questions in regards to the engines and the paint. I'm currently working on a United 777 in what was their "U" scheme from the 1970s. However, I'm looking into renovating a Sasquatch 1/200 757 into United's "U" scheme as well. I'm thinking of taking engines built from a Hasegawa 767-200 and applying them to the wings. I'm sure that the P&W engines are somewhat smaller on the real 757s compared to the 767 version, however, the engines when I compared the two sets are practically same in size. Just thought I would get your opinion. I forgot to ask about the paint. What type of blue paint did you use? Thanks!

Hi Charles!!!

Love that "U" livery too. It's a Classic look for such a Hot-Rod plane to have. I've never seen Dean's (Sasquatch) 757. It must be a cool but hard build to achive. Sure go for the 767 PW engines on the 757. The pylons are the only thing that you got to get right.

Send me some pics of that 1/200 757 and those engines and I can help you out!!!

The blue that I am working with on the Delta is Tamiya TS-15!!

Brad, thanks for your offering to help. I'll try to post a pic here soon, just been too busy lately. The Sasquatch brand is very difficult, and sadly, that the DC-9 and 757 molds are not really that good. The 747SP conversion though is awesome. The overall disappointment is that the 757 fuselage is somewhat warped. Yet, the 757-300 I made is of two Wooster 757 molds, one in which was also warped. It's difficult to explain, but I'll give you an example, the Lockheed Constellation. The real fuselage is not perfectly straight on the outside, it goes up from the cockpit and then curves downard somewhat towards the triple tail section. This is the case with the 757 mold. It looks kind of odd. In the case of the 757-300, I cut where the fuselages become uneven and was able to get a straight assembly with little error. I"ll take the picture of the model as it is for you and post it soon. Thanks again! Great work on those wings and engines!

Yes, Matte aluminum foil cut to fit the middle of the hot sections of the engines.

The Sasquatch brand is very difficult, and sadly, that the DC-9 and 757 molds are not really that good. The 747SP conversion though is awesome. Yes....Lots of carving on those old Sasquatch kits that Dean made......Great for your modeling skills to make them look sharp. I helped Dean with the design of the prototype B1900D years ago......It was fun to work with Dean.

You really got yourself in the mist of testing your skills at shaping and making everything look correct. I can't tell how much more your work WILL improve in the long run!!!

Brad, as always, nice photos of that 757 in Delta colors. I did some touch up work on the Eastern 757-300. There's a local airline collectible show happening this Saturday in Miami near the MIA airport and I'm hoping to get this particular model in the contest. The other night I tried to upload the picture of the United 757 Sasquatch model but the upload failed twice.

I swear ... that looks like the real plane Photoshopped into a small scale ... you should do work for Hollywood ... your scale models look 10x better than most of the stuff you see in the movies!!!

All done now? DAMN it looks nice! LOVE those window-shade decals; they add a wonderful element of realism. I should have pushed you to put those on the builds you've done for me! Maybe on the next one.

My only criticism: the bare-metal leading edge of the tail might be a bit too thick, but hey, that's just nitpicking! Amazing build overall, as usual. Is she for a DA.C'er?
