I have been in contact with him for a while, and he emailed me about three days ago, he is still taking orders, and seems to be working well, so I'm sure he's fine, he said production for my models would be about a month, so I wouldn't worry...

Received similar emails from him earlier this year....and still have seen nothing. So I would say there is reason for concern.

Has anyone ever received a custom work from Fernando?

I think it is another case of him popping up on the forum and saying he is going to get things together....then disappear again for a while.

I have seen two fotos of completed model, but I donot have the actual model.

I have basically asked him to return my donor models AND money.

He reminds me of the guy who installed the coi pond at my home. Always promising to finish the job, always had an excuse why he didn't return. So I finished the damn thing myself finally. WMaquetes has some wonderful displays, but what good is that if you never get what you paid for except empty promises?

These are two fotos sent to me months ago of one my 'finished' models.

Would be nice to actually have it since I paid for it. But I guess I paid for the fotos??

There should be a blacklist of custom model makers/retailers that get over on people. That would help keep the hobby a 'happy' hobby.

Why in a billion years are you asking for help or buying from a custom model maker when all should be contacting you or a few others here!!!

you should start that thread. there should actually be a sticky thread on DAC giving ratings to people. that way if someone wants to know how a transaction went from a certain member, they can look them up in that particular thread. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/, another forum i participate on does this. they are the largest canon photography community in the world

He simply does not answer any email.... I tried to call him some times but didn´t manage to talk to him.... It is amazing to see how this issue has been conducted (or not) by Wmaquetes and Fernando...

This is the latest response I receive from Fernando:

From: WMaquetes Brasil
Sent: Thu, November 11, 2010 5:43:57 AM
Subject: RE: Order 533/09

Ok,

I'll refound the total amount and send back the donors.
Please inform your address and PayPal account. I can refound the money on 07th December, ok??

Fernando A. Wiest Neto

The date has passed, and of course he hasnot responded or refunded anything. I think this is a big scam. I look at it as he has stolen my money and (donor) models. I will do what I can to set this situation right.

It is a big shame that this has happened not only to me, but others as well.

I have experienced the same thing! He named a shipping date in Nov and since then AGIAN no response!

BEWARE of this guy, it seems like he never wanted to deliver a product to anyone, just to RIPP us OFF! NEVER DEAL WITH HIM!!!

From now on i will warn any future customers of WMaquetes on any forum, i did on several German already - that's all we can do, force him with a campaign and inform the others!

this is indeed a big SHAME.

but some things dont add up here.
1. he posted alot on the boards with photos of his creations for years now
2. he didnt scam everyone. i wasnt scammed. he just never responded to me again...but then again he scammed a couple of people...this doesnt add up. a scammer would want to scam as many people as he/she could.
3. i requested models to be made and he sent me photos of the progress (i never paid for it...yet)
4. his prices were CHEAP. why would a scammer charge that low? almost equated only $30 to have this thing custom made and shipped from brazil to usa
5. the rumor that he was taken down because of copyright...i have to ask the question again, why was a small guy taken down instead of bigger piraters like JC?

looks like this dude's website is now down. scam or not scam, it is not legit business. boycott away!!

I think this is just a case of a guy with not enough spare time to do this, and not very organized either. I really don't think he's scamming anybody.

1) yes, but nobody has ever commented on actual receiving a finished product from him
2) scam is maybe not the right word, but getting over on multiple people
3) he also sent me fotos of 'completed' models and i was to pay for them to receive them
4) if you get over on alot of people for small amounts, it does add up. i had 6 models to be done, so that does add up when multiple people are involved
5) i think the copyright excuse was just that....an excuse. just as i think his so called illness was also an excuse. it seems that it was just a way to strech time out and maybe people forget about the whole thing

my thing is now he has taken not only my money, but some others as well. and instead of using it for what was supposed to be done with the money, he used it for himself on somethings else (my defenition of a scam).

i also think he didnot have time to do what he said, but a true businessman would realize this and be up front with customers.

yes a boycott of him is ok, but he has basically gotten away with what he wants. so since he most likely willnot ever return to offering such a service, then it is a case of him coming out ahead. boycott him would be like boycott twa or pan am at this point.

I know he wrote that he didn't want to get rich on this, I don't quite understand why someone would bother to take down a little fish like this guy..

Besides no offense, but how old is Fernando? He should be old enough to know when to say stop on accepting orders, but he kept on taking new orders until it drowned him completely, and it simply just upset a handful of collectors for not receiving their promised models. What a shame, in the past, I praised and highly commented on his fine custom works. Thumbs down, pal!

Dear friends

Fernando lives in a city 130 km away from my home but despite that fact I never met him personally. Before he joined the DAC forum he was a member of a brazilian aviation forum and he was already making customs models domestically. Everything was fine until we has seriously ill which limited some momements from parts of his body. He started a very intense medical treatment whick kept him away from making the same amount of models he used to before (in fact he had to stop making models for several months). So after more than an year he decided to get back in full power so...another problem arise. One brazilian airline represented by a attorney called him and said him to stop making models of that airline unless...you can imagine the rest of the history. I am not sure if other airliners did the same. This was an important warning btw.

That´s the history that I know about him and his company.

A couple of times I exchanged e-mails with Mr. Vogelaar (I am sure every serious collector have ever heard of him) and he told me Fernando was a very good guy with so many skills for making models.

I think the reasons for the delay are posted above but as I said before I dunno know. I will try to talk to him this weekend by phone and see what he say. I also have a model with him , the WMA VARIG Electra gen1 that was seriously damaged during shipping; and he is working on it.

I have also forward this page (it´s link) to him thru SMS ´cause it is faster than e-mails and let´s see what he says. In my personal opinion he is a good guy but is having some problems in his life. I trust on him but I agree with all of you that he should get back to you more often.

I've had a similar experience to others on this thread, except that my order will be three years old come February 2011 and that luckily I have not paid Fernando as yet.

My order was originally for an EMBRAER ERJ-135 the current 'status' is that he is making a Dassault Mercure for me free due to the extreme delay and will only charge me postage, the last contact I had was in October and two emails I have sent since have gone unanswered.

To be honest on the one hand I feel guilty about this as he will make absolutely nothing for the time he has spent on my order (if it ever materialises), but on the other hand I don't due to the lack of communication and length of time it's taken.

After reading everything on here my conclusion is that he has both been very ill and bitten off more than he could chew, however the fact that he has taken money without supplying the goods is pretty unforgiveable, in any circumstances.

At the least could he not have asked a family member or friend to handle his correspondence whilst he was/is ill, I'm sure at least one of the friends he has on here and W900 would help out.

The saddest aspect is that his work looks fantastic, and he could run a great business supplying models that, lets face it, are never going to be produced in 1500 scale. I myself would put plenty of business Fernando's way if the reliability was there.

I really hope your efforts can resolve this for us Santos and thanks for trying!

In my opinion....this guy is a cheater.

sorry to say that.

i have send this guy pictures from a Biplane and asked him to built this plane in 1:500.
few weeks later he`d send me pictures from the raw form.

since that day never had heard from this guy again.

all very similar here......

Hi Santos,

I'm assuming you haven't had any response from Fernando?

Yes I did. Talked to him a couple of days ago and he told me he is getting back making models and he will make contact you all. I am sure he will make all your models despite the huge delay.

Great,

I just hope that he didn't forget about my Emb's 120 (TACV and inter islands airlines) plus the ATR's (TACV and Halcyon Air)

Valeu Santos, obrigado

Santos - I think it is good that you make contact with him.

However, why does he not make contact with the people that have been trying to contact him? Why does he not give some sort of decent return or courtesy to the people that have been waiting a year or more?

It is nothing against you, and I think it is good that you have been able to contact him. I just donot know the value of what he says now. Because it is the same saying 'I am getting back to doing models', but then nothing for a while.

We will continue to see what will happen.

Hi Santos,

Once again thanks for your efforts.

I think SuriProf4 has summed it up though, as this is his standard response every 6 months or so.

Almost three years on from placing my order I'm just as sceptical that I will ever receive the models, but hope springs eternal I suppose.

Hello all, this is the first time I am posting under this topic, but to be frank I have been following this topic since almost the past 4-5 months only. I had placed an order with Fernando as well in June'2010 and paid him the full amount (incl shipping to me in India) in advance right then...!! I know it sounds crazy, but I had not come across this thread at that time. Now in the coming few days I might have something to share with you all regarding Fernando aka WBJets.!! Thought would post now since I was affirmed that I can now post a major update regarding this custom maker.

From all the posts I have read above I havent come across anyone who has received his order with Fernando, may it be placed ages ago or bout a month ago, but I might be the trend-breaker..!! ;-)

if you are implying that you spoke with him, and he said he will send you your order....then i would say most of the posters on here have had the same experience. and we are still waiting.

will see if you prove us differently

to answer your question, i havenot heard of/seen of anyone physically receiving an order from him

Theres quite a few of us here that have been waiting a lot longer than 4-5 months try nearly 2 years! I also paid in full for 6 customs at that time, not had anything yet.

I guess not. I did speak with him once and that was in December. But now the thing is that my order has already reached India and is with customs awaiting clearance. And this I am not saying becoz of some 'false' claims by Fernando, but its what the tracking results show. Owing to the delay I asked him to send my stuff by EMS and not the usual economy service without paying that extra for EMS...!!

I had ordered 2 classic B732s (both from India) using SMAC donors... The 2 reasons being, I dont think AC would be doing them anytime soon or even in the distant future and the second being I have some very fond memories of flying on those B732s as a kid from my hometown to my native place in New Delhi and many times to Bombay (now Mumbai) from the early 80s to the mid 90s...

Ahh ok well I hope you enjoy them and they come as you wanted, mine where scratch builds so they may be a different kettle of fish.

i cannot speak for the others, but what about those that have been waiting 1+ years??

i have heard nothing, and all of my models (except one) were finished in early 2010...according to fernando.

now if some of you do receive your models, and didnot have to wait 1+ years, then maybe it is good for you, but makes it that much worse for those that have been continue to wait (and no communications from fernando at all)

I'm pleased for you and Karun83 if Fernando is fulfilling your orders, but the fact that mine is coming up for 3 years in April makes it even more frustrating that others have received theirs depite placing them later.

I've had no communication from Fernando since you posted on 06/01/11 that he would be getting in touch with everyone and now I find two people are getting their models soon!

The same here, i've been waiting for three years, nothing, no info in the past months, no answer to my emails.. I thanks Otavio for his effort very much, but i doubt that i'll ever receive my payed models. Hope seems to be an illusion here. I'm sorry for your two SMA 737s Karun, you'll probably never see them again.. When he wants to get back, why does he not care about his customers? Why doesn't he give us a status quo? Very sad..

I really don´t know if I get happy with Karun´s news or mad.... I am on the qeue for more than two years, waiting for 11 custom models (all paid) and comparing to Karun, I am on Fernando´s backyard and nothing....
Last time I had some news from Fernando was on June 2010... then silence....
I am really frustaded and looking for a new custom maker!

As I mentioned I might be getting my customs anytime soon since they have already arrived in my country thru EMS and are currently with the customs for clearance. Thanks for your concern though...

Well I would have been very angry and mad at Fernando had I been in your place today.... I can understand your situation, since your are located just next door (well sort of) and I am almost half way around the world from Brazil...

My models were also shipped once one year ago, at least i was told so, but they were destroyed and lost in a mysterious storm, that's what Fernando told me.. (No kidding!) Does he reply to your mails and requests? Hope that you'll ever see them again..
