Brad - the kind of work you do should be OUTLAWED.

You're making most every one of us SICK with ENVY ... you really should just keep your talents "under wraps" because I've been having some major nightmares after seeing this model!

Seriously, just BRILLIANT work ... on a scale of 1 to 10 ... I'd give you a 12.8!!! You'd get a 13 if you could somehow make the cockpit windows transparent ...

Just out of curiosity, roughly how much does one of your commissions, such as this 747-400, go for? Just a range is fine ... if you'd rather discuss in private, then feel free to PM me. Thanks!!!

'City of Melbourne' looks exactly like your model without gear waiting for some maintenance...

Have you considered building custom models for aerospace museums? I'm sure they would LOVE to show off your work ... they might even BUY them for their display as opposed to you offering them as a voluntary contribution.

I would think Boeing's Museum of Flight, the Future of Flight, or certainly the National Air & Space (in DC) would be great venues for your masterpieces!

Yes I have thought about it. The National Air & Space would be a great honor to display a build. Or even an airport that has some displays would be cool too.

I should take a drive down and visit the Air & Space to see whats needed..or to checck out the other airliner builds.....Before I go blind and more nuts...lol

Thanks for your support!!!!!!

Brad
You're definitely have the qualifications ... what would be cool is if you could build in a larger scale to really show off the detail ... military planes are great for that since they offer 1/72nd scales and larger, but with these airliners it's hard to find much larger than 1/200 readily.

Entex/Nitto used to make a 1/100th scale 747-100/200 back in the 70s in TWA/United markings ... what a "canvas" that would make for you!

MAG-NI-FI-CO!!!

Just out of curiosity and nosey-ness, how many hours do you think you have into this build?

Also, I was perusing your builds on Airlinercafe.com and was wondering how you guys take these great photos of your models "flying" ... obviously you Photoshop it, but what technique are you using to suspend or support the model prior to taking the pic? Or are you just "heaving it" and hoping for the right shot?

I think most people would think this was the REAL thing ...

Thanks!

seems about a zillion hours of fun.....I enjoy the builds to bad I cant keep 'em.

I really enjoy the research and working with the customer's preference of what they want on the aircraft. Mike was very helpful on this gem!!!

Thanks Mike and everybody that has in the past with ALL thier support.

Best Regards,
Brad

Thanks to you TOO Brad for sharing the experience of this fabulous build ... you probably put so many hours into it that you'd rather not calculate your "per hour rate" as it might equate to something close to minimum wage ... hopefully not!!!

Seriously, however much time you "invest" the results speak for themselves - you're definitely in a class by yourself and certainly make it "look" easy!

Cheers to your next project!

And I swear, this pic still looks like it came from Airliners.net!

Both are equally brilliant in their own right - the Herpa Premium is arguably the finest mass-produced 1/200th 747 model in the world - and Brad's "creations" are arguably the finest custom-built airliner renditions in the world!

Brad, hope you're wearing a football helmet so your head doesn't swell up too large ...

Juha in my book is one of the best buildiers around. I've known him for years now. I'll ask him now and then for tips on painting tech's. By far he builds the best jet engines that I've seen around.

I've seen some of the best work done on "prop" airliners though in 1/72 or larger.... Sweet DC-3's to Connies......Those are fun to build.

It's a shame we dont have more large scale jets to work on.

Entex/Nitto used to make a 1/100th scale 747-100/200 back in the 70s in TWA/United markings ... what a "canvas" that would make for you!

Nav lights.
Landing lights
Retractable landing gear
Movable flaps

That will be about 2500-3500 dollars

Wait, so how these kits work is that they cost like $10 and you take like 1 month to hand paint it yourself which takes so much research to find how wide tall whatever everything has to be? OUTSTANDING by the way.

I'd keep that build and play airport for a year( if I can still see) then stick a M-80 in it pass it off to you. You think this is hobby...Not! It pays for my freaking asprin for this hobby.

Now that I think about it...this is getting old ..Maybe I should just start collecting lumps of casted lead planes.
