Question Airport '75

Hey Marc Hookerman, could you make a COLUMBIA AIRLINES 747 from this movie? All of your models have been great!

Hey DFW.

Well, I could, but right now I have no spare 747s to play with. I should in the future. Time is also a problem. I am working some other models right now. I will think about it when I have completed my other projects.

That would be a great idea. I'd be waiting for that too.

Other than replacing the red in the AA cheatline to blue and adding the distinctive Columbia Airlines logo and titles, shouldn't be too hard. Make sure to change the registration - it's N9675. BTW, the '747' painted on the radome only exists in the movie poster - it was not applied to the aircraft.

Over at the AA maintenance base in TUL there was an MD-11 parked at the ramp with the blue-white-blue cheatline - anyone for a "flight of fancy" Columbia MD-11?

Red face Columbia Airlines plane

You could use this 1:200 scale model that is 26.99 at flightminiatures.com. all it requires is a custom decal for the Columbia Logo and name on the sides and another blue cheat stripe Dunno...
Oh and for an added treat here is a flight sim version!! They forgot the second blue line whoops!!!Guess we all make mistakes. and this was NOT done by me,say can someone make an Oceanic Airlines 747-242B in flight Sim????

Am I correct or American Airlines was willing to lease the 747's to Universal Studios for the airport movies? I think the reason was AA didnt like them at all!! They just got em' cheap cuz they were a batch of planes left over from a cancelled order by another airline! Well Thats what I heard....Say Craig? Do you have anymore shots of the two 747's? And do they still work for UPS, or were they sold, YET AGAIN??????

If you are short on cash(like me)you can use this model:It is the NASA 747 in AA paint! All you need is,a printing shop near you and your decals which come with the kit! Oh and if the space shuttle details are secured on,do some snipping and some sanding and paint it silver!!
Here is the adress:

Just a bit of Trivian for you.

If my memory serves me correctly, back in the seventies all the major airlines had at least one of two 747's in their fleet. It just that American Airlines found out early on the 747 wasn't for them. Remember American didn't have the route system that is has now. They got rid of the there 747's early on in favor of the DC 10; which suited them better.
