Default Custom PIA 742 (1:200)

After being inspired from KAI, Team4R (Andy) mastercustoms, n azzudin here on the DAC forum, i decided to do my little own custom. i had this HG Continental 742 which had 3 missing engines, so i decided to use this as my first (practice) project.
After asking couple of ppl here on the forum to guide me alittle bit, they never replied me back, u know who u r!!!
But i was not going to give up! Azuddin has really helped me alot, he taught me how to do some stuff! i really appreciate his help.. And i read some magazines n researched on internet on how to custom paint!

Well these r the current results, as u can see its not completly done yet! but its in process n i plan to keep u guys updated! i have learn u need alot of paitence.... i m waiting on decals rightnow!

Btw, i m looking for spare engines, if anyone can help me with that, i would really really appreciate it!

Oh any kind of advice will be welcome!

Danish

Looking good Dan

I'm doing some research on this livery for me to do the decal for you. I'm gonna need to order some blank decal sheet before i can print them.

I hope you already get in touch with Russel or Greg for the doors and windows decal.

For the engines, I think it best you replace the whole wings because i can see the pylon is broken. I think the Hogan Air France Cargo 742F have the suitable engine that you need. I might be wrong, guys help me out here will ya!!

Danish, you've shown a pic of AP-BAK. That's one of 2 Combi's that PIA has with GE engines and the model you're using has PW engines. You might want to consider changing the reg to any of the following: AP-AYV, AYW, BCL, BCM, BCN or BCO. They all had PW engines.

Hey Dan

Sure could. I will email it to you once I finish it. Make sure you use inkjet printer.

Also, just some advice, when you spray the white paint, do it phase by phase, layer by layer. You spray one layer, let it dry and then spray another layer. In my early modeling experience the paint spill down because I do the layer, but the first layer not yet properly dried.

oh i learned it the hard way, i had to use sand paper then fine grid to move the white paint layer i had created while painting!
But i dun have to paint anything on the decal sheet?? do i?
i need the arabic logo, pakistan title on fuelsalage, tail logo, and the 2 stipes on belly tht u notice!

Draw Decal at one time did a beautiful 1/200 PIA 747 decal sheet with which you could complete 2 models from. It had the complete tail pieces for the standard green and pashmina livery plus the larger and smaller Pakistan titles and registrations for all 5 743's and 742's. I have that sheet and am saving it for 2 PIA 747 projects I have planned for the future. In the meantime I making copies of the sheet to use for other PIA model projects.

You should have gotten an AF or UTA 747 for this project in the first place instead of having to sacrifice 2 models for the engines only. They're still widely available.

After you print it out, you will need to spray a layer of clear coat on the print out. This is for the ink to hold. If you don't spray it, the ink will fade when you dip in water.

off to a great start there! though i would point out that the green area under the tail should be rounded and not ending at a sharp angle...

wet-sand lightly, with a high grit paper. if you burn through the white, paint that area again.

Ok Guys, after having serious trouble finding the right color Green, the belly has remained white. i have never put any decals in my life before but for first time i think this is not bad. nor have i ever painted any model or clear coated or sand it. But i have learned alot making this custom.
So its gonna look like this. AP-BAK. i know its suppose to be a combi, but i couldnt find the combi doors.

tell me what u guys think!

Hey Danish great job! Now I finally get to see what a HG PIA 747 looks like lol. You have quite a collection there. Almost identical to mine.

From ym side you will be seeing quite a few PIA models in the near future. I also have this Hasegawa 747 I made into PIA 15 years ago using brush paints. It looked fantastic for the time but now I think its time I let my model maker professionally restore it.
