Default 4R 1/200 American Airlines MD-87 N755RA

This model is half way through the decal stages... Should be done tonight, and will have some nice final pics when the sun comes up.

Until then, a preview...

Beautiful aircraft, you really have a talent for building those things.

I am not sure if American ever flew these beauties, but they are fantastic nonetheless.

Yeah, I think an ex-Reno AA MD-87 in bare metal is a fantasy, AFAIK they all wore white with AA markings.

Yes, all American Airlines MD-87 and (MD-90) wore the Reno hybrid colors... Today they are in the fleet of Aeromexico...

As always a very good looking model, Team4R!!!

dont hate me, but from the angle of the model it looks like the vert. fin/rudder could use a taller top. one of the signature feature of the MD-87

You guys are very correct the MD-87 wore a different color scheme... Unfortunately, I didn't realize that until after the chrome paint was applied.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Hans, are you referring to the piece jutting up above the horizontal stabilizers?

EDIT: I see the mistake I made, thank you for pointing that out. Should be an easy fix... moving to correct.

Beautiful MD-87 build, Andy!!

I've got one in my room that's been sitting on the stand since 2004; got everything done but the gear and decals, and there it has sit.

Yours is an inspiration, Andy, thanks!
Take care,
Frank

Frank, inspiration to you?? With all your mirror dioramas? Well, I'm glad I could return the favor.

Hans, I realized I had picked the wrong tail out of my pile of MD-8* parts. Just grabbed the right one, swapped decals and got it on her way... Thanks again for the heads up though!

Whew, glad I read that you just swapped tails---at first I thought "man, he scratch-built the addition and puttied it in and repainted the top that seamlessly THAT fast?!?".

Very nice! Hope to see some sort of diecast MD80s in 1/200 scale...
