Default can you paint on regular models?

I'm turning engines 1 and 3 of my FM First Air 727 silver like they're supposed to be. But can I just airbrush on a new colour over top of the original paint? Or do I need to prime first or something?

Default Re: can you paint on regular models?

i would sand with 600 grit paper to roughen up the surface. it would be better to prime so you have a uniform base color, but you could just paint directly if you choose to.
