Default Aloha BAC 111-215 finished!

Just finished this Aloha Airlines BAC 111-215. I started out with a 1/144 scale Airfix kit that needed some modification to make it the correct Aloha version. The kit out of the box appears to me to be the BAC roll out version which has a blunt nose and wing fences further out toward the wing tips. To correct, I extended the kits nose, sanded of the old wing fences and fabricated new ones out of thin plastic. Lots of the filling and sanding to get to this model done but it was worth the work. I pretty happy with the final model. Mark Borer did a great job on producing the custom Aloha decals for me, a perfect fit. I think they can be purchased now for $8 plus S&H.

On April 16,1966, Aloha's first BAC 111 arrived in Honolulu. In 1969, Aloha brought in five of the new B737's to replace the three BAC 111's.

Enjoy the pics....

Great job! I thought it an outstanding livery when I first saw it in 1967 and loved flying on it.

Best wishes to you and your Aloha ohana.

Great model! So you have covered most of the history on the jet side of Aloha. Must look great in a line up. Sorry to read the loss of your company. Was always the one I liked when visiting Hawaii. All of that history from Inter-Island Airways to be distroyed by a player that didn't exist when they started!

Saw it in an article of one of your local Hawaiian papers on line. I felt it was great to show. Yes Mesa has no Aloha Spirit. No Ohana of Hawaii!

Lately there’s been a movement to revive Aloha's passenger service. It seems to be gaining some momentum.
