Default 1:200 Cubana Tu-154

as per this thread, http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...t-tu-154m.html
majority voted for cubana so cubana for this kit it is. if i can get a hold of more of these super rare kits in the future then ill build others. i should have picked them up when i could, now they are all gone and so hard to find at a deal i got mine for (free ).

finally got some gears to work with a couple days ago so now my kit has custom modded hogan boeing 757 gears. this also was a -B kit and i tried to do my mods on it to get it as close to a -M variant as possible. its got an updated tailcone, thicker pokey thing on the front of the tail and winglets. everything else such as larger engines i just left it the way it is because its not too terribly noticeable

almost done here!

Sorry, D-AIHC, most of us like Cubana more because Cuba has the best cigars and Crash and Burn airlines, er, i mean Aeroflot has the engines attached with 2 teenie weenie bolts and duct tape. And they have an unbuckle seat belt sign and scream and shout sign on board. Only joking!

I must agree with John, AK or AF would be a lot more unique. Awsome project and work so far!

Fantastic- is this the russian kit in 1/200 without gear? If so I would love some tips about the Hogan gear as I have this kit at home and want to give it some legs to stand on!

How about rare models? Sample models? One-off models?

crownvic, in order to be successful with Kai, you need to offer him burritos as form of payment.

only reason i dont sell my models readily is because the time it takes to build a model vs payment/hr just isnt worth it.

looking to finish this soon!

as i stated before, masking is probably the hardest in the modeling steps and my least favorite. if you dont get it right, you are screwed and will need to repaint. *crossing my fingers!

mid progress update

if you are going to buy drawdecals decals, i suggest you look elsewhere first before settling on them. their film is thin which is really desirable but a little too thin in that it tears very easily. keep it lubricated at all times with water when you are adjusting it otherwise it will just rip.

also their laser(?) printed decals aren't as smooth (pixelated) as silkscreen ones. i had no choice but to use drawdecals because they were the only ones to make decals for the tu-154!

oh not to mention they didnt make their cockpit windows wide enough to span the entire cross-section of the fuselage! i have now to cut them in half and do some black filler in the middle.

but all in all going swell =). my tu doesnt have a back tilt like the real thing and is a little high off the ground but i shall correct that in the next tus i do! but as far as the masking went, i think it went 100%! i masked off that slight slope at the cockpit area just fine to match the slope of the decals! sweet

cant wait to have a fleet of these on my shelf!

ok heres a good reason why i dont build for others. so if its for $0 or $2500, i wont feel good delivering a non 100% product.

ive found the reason for my complaints on the cockpit window decals not being wide enough! it was MY FAULT! i didnt paint the gray all the way up to the nose cone joint! if i did that would have moved the decals to the thinner part of the fuselage, this making the decals fit exactly. gahhhhh.....

but good thing that for some odd reason it still looks like a decent tu154. i guess ill have to live with this mistake. i will learn that for my next tu154 kits!

you can see in this pic where i mistakenly cut the decals in half up front. will fill that up later with black of course.

you can see them ebay from time to time but these kits have been discontinued for a very long time already. made by Eastern Express. does not come with gears. those are hogan gears. i stripped them from my eva 757 and replaced that eva with rubber stuff.

first of all i understand and see all the comments that have been made here and i appreciate every single letter that comprises them. that sole sentence stated in my misunderstood post was stated as saying IN THE FUTURE if indeed it boils down to only one person who is attracted then i would still continue my work. AT THE PRESENT TIME of course there is a handful of supporters as evident in this thread. that statement was a general statement of a "IF IN CASE." i appreciate all my supporters. i appreciate all those who give me constructive criticism in how i can improve.
are we clear here?
Geez Take a long breathe here, brother.

Frankly to be very honest, if someone has something I want but they don't want to sell, I'd respect that decision of theirs and not try every means possible to try and get it off them. A little moderate persuation and prodding here and there is fine, but to go to such lengths as offering them cart blanche could easily end up in backfiring. Maybe it isn't just about money. Maybe he feels he cannot put a monetary price on his work and effort or that its not really worth that much that justifies such an amount.

This is merely my personal opinion and how I would look at it.
