Nicely done, Bill-ay! Now that you have completed your IL-86 kit, you will have more time flying VA earning your hours, unless of course, you have been fired.

Allright!!! Excellent job on this model!! You did a great job capturing the look of an IL-86!!

I use krystal Clear or Elmers glue to attach clear plastic. Dry's clear and fills in gaps. When building models, a few important things are to stay organized, plan first how you want to accomplish each step and take your time.

Hmmm not bad considering your young age. When i was 13 my airplane was just build OOB with no paint.

But i still can see some seam on your upper fuselage where the two half meet.

Never mind here is some tips to improve your next build. Try to use a grit 400 or 600 abrasive paper to sand down the seam before painting. To achieve a glossy white fuselage like the painting on diecast u should use tamiya white. It give u the perfect glossy look rather than humbrol or gunze white.

While painting white after the first coat try to smooth it using a grid 1000 abrasive paper. Next apply second coat and to achieve even more shinnier or glossy outcome u can use some toothpaste and polish it on your fuselage...the end result should look like what u see in my royal brunei aircraft...glossy and shinning white.

Thanks Vlee, I was very annoyed when, after the whole fusalage was painted, the front half started to come loose, thats why you see that seem I use a Squardorn sanding stick to sand. I also used Tamiya Flat white, thought it might look good for the 'dirty' IL-86. I used 3 coats of Future floor wax to give it a shine. You can really use toothpaste on models???
Thanks!

Man that is one model. If I had the shrinking machine from the movie, "Honey I shrunk the Kids" than I'll come shrink your model to 1:400.

Im sorry, I meant to say that Revell bought a huge supply of bagged kits from Zvezda. Revell will put them in thier own box with decals for Armavia(I think I spelled that right?).

Congratulations, very good job.
I have a question. Are the tire made of rubber or are they painted? The lines between tires and rim seem perfect. I can never get that when I paint. If you painted them, can you explain what technique you use to paint tires and rim.

Thank you very much!
The Tires are plastic, hand painted.
The way I paint the tires is I do it in continuous steps i.e. First I paint the Silver on the wheel part. THEN I paint on the black to the tires. I then fix any mistakes(painting black on silver, vise versa). To hold the wheel in place when I paint it I usually take a toothpick and put a little elmers glue on the end of it and attach it to the place on the wheel where it would attach to the bogie. When Im done, I just un-attach it and then use plastic glue to actually glue it in place on the model.
Thanks for your interest.

Absolutely beautiful. I have this kit as well as the IL-96 but am waiting for decals of some other airline other than Aeroflot.

Thank you very much!
Revell is re-realising this IL-86 kit with new decals: Siber7, China Xinging(spelled wrong), Kras Air(I think) and then I think Aeroflot with red flag on tail.
Do you have the Eastern Express IL-96 kit? Are you going to put gear on it?

No I have the 'Russia' aka Russian Govt IL-96-300. I don't recall what the company is as I'll have to dig it out of my hoarding cupboard and I can't recall if it has gears or not as I got it about 8 years ago alongwith a TU-154 of Aeroflot in the same scale and made by the same company from the ARD shop above T2 at Heathrow.

I'm glad Revell is moving towards Russian airliners and especially the fact that this beautiful a/c is finally seeing the limelight but I'd rather just have a set of decals than go and buy another complete model just for the same of the decals. Are these re-released kits available as of yet?

Mjabbasi, that sounds like the Eastern Express kit, as they also made a TU-154, as you say.

I do wish that Revell would actually make some more of their own molds, other then buy them from the crapiest model maker in the world in my opinion(Zvezda). I am sure that the decals will pop-up on ebay, but you will probably have to pay an arm and a leg for them.
I forgot to add that there will also be Armavia decals included in this kit.
