Default Altering Limited Edition Models

Hey all,

I've seen a model on ebay that I think would be perfect for stripping down to be customised to an airline livery that isn't available on the aircraft type in question.

The thing is, the model is a 'Limited Edition' model, made for Herpa wings club, so there are not masses of them out there. In your view, is it sacrilage to destroy a ltd ed. model for a custom?

Wow, old thread without any reply....

I know it's a bit late, but if you want the model as base for a custom, it's your decision.....

If a collector wants the model, he/she has to bid for the model.....

Bye, Chris.

I'd say it depends on what model it is, there has to be another MOdel of the type out there thats not limited to use as the base model.

Yeh, I suppose I didn't consider that. Originally I was looking at a Dash-8-300 of South African Airways, and although there are other suitable bases I thought this would have been the better version because there would be less to remove.

Since that time I have bough an Airbus A319CJ (Herpa), which I may eventually seek out for someone to change to a British Airways version. In this case Herpa have not produced an IAE powered A319 other than this CJ and the BA version in the box set. I now have the box set anyway so am not in such a rush to convert the A319CJ, but I may still want it done because eventually I aim to build a diarama and will need more than 1 BA A319. I feel less concerned about changing the A319 than I would have about the Dash-8 because it is almost a pointless model

Lol I only have one Herp BA model and I haven't even taken delivery of it yet... its the BA 747-400 Nalanji Tail, I need the Wunula to go with it but am having a hard time finding it.

I did it. Cutom models, if well done, are the top-models in a collector's list. Just my point of view.
