Default Decal printer + recent customs

Hi all, I'm looking for a printer that would print decent decals. My brother inkjet refuses to print white, and anything that isn't black prints like crap. I do a lot of customs and design my own decals, but they aren't coming out as good as they should. I've included examples of some of my custom work (some with good decals and others with my printer). As you can tell, northwest is my favourite haha These are all 1/200

I used to struggle with printing my own decals and at the time I think really the only printer that could print in white ink was the Alps 5000 series printer (this was like a decade ago) I'm not sure if decal printers are so specialized now. I would guess that printers like Brother could print in white ink if you got the color laser jet version. I can't imagine that after 10 years of having the technology to print white ink that Alps would still be the only game in town

I am loving the Northwest 787. Very well done.

Alas, I don't think any printer is capable of printing white, as they assume you are printing on white paper. You can buy sheets of white Lazerjet or Inkjet decal paper that help to overcome this. A lazer color printer is less messy than Inkjet, but I have seen good results with both.

The Dye Sublimation ALPS and Citizen printers were supposed to be best for decals as could do silver and gold. Hard to find now.

Personally use inkjet now. Results seem fine. I am no expert but find it easier now.

Clear decal sheet for most but have white if needed.

I find this the best sheet

coat over with microscale to seal

Then after decals appiled to model - final coat over with Humbrol Clear gloss (or satin)
