Lookin' good there Brad!

BTW, not to be asking you to reveal "trade secrets", but I'm just curious how you're able to cut such precise and straight flaps and cutouts on the wings? Are you just using standard tools like X-acto knives and straightedges?

As a kid I used to experiment with model building, and I even tried attaching an X-acto knife blade to a soldering iron so that the blade would be heated and (hopefully) slice thru the plastic smoother and easier. But what I discovered was the heat would get the blade too hot and end up "melting" the plastic as opposed to cutting thru cleanly - as in your technique(s). Just curious if you're using HEAT or standard practices … gonna be an AMAZING build!

Thanks!!

Nothing fancy at all when cutting out body parts. I'll go through maybe about twenty five X-acto 11's for this build. A lot of the cutting from the wings are recessed with a groove already. It is much like "staying within the lines" rule. The styrene that must be scratch built, I will outline in pencil then make many cuts the same way. Don't go for one big gusto cut

If working with a non injected molded plastic kit like resin it will be like cutting through bone. Very brittle stuff !

(Airplane parts not body parts)

Come on now. We all KNOW Brad's secret is that he uses his LASER vision to cut the parts in a "precise and straight" manner. The MASTER Brad does not need the tools that mere "mortal" modelers would use. DUH!!!

OK everyone … Brad has seeded the "bait", so it behooves me to announce that I am the customer of this commission! :roll eyes:

I've been waiting awhile for my opportunity, and decided to have a little "fun" with my favorite Boeing … I was gonna do a Pan Am 747SP as Brad had done before, but decided to opt for my All-Time Favorite Airline on the newer "Dash 8" Queen.

The only thing I would have otherwise considered was a really dirty "Twin Globe" TWA 747-100, but I really liked the accuracy and detail in this Revell model …

My optional "dirty bird" …

The Doyusha 100 scale 747 kit I have comes with those same exact engines that TWA bird has and I,m still pondering on what scheme to make it in.

She will look beautiful when finished. I mentioned the reg and Clipper name earlier. N748PA would be a suggestion for the reg (as it was previously used). Will you select one of the previous Clipper names used,or select your own? The TWA twin globe livery is also sexy.

That's going to be a beauty for sure! Too bad we have to think about fantasy schemes to add some variety to the -8I as the last generation of the Jumbo is souch a desaster for Boeing..

I had actually considered going with LH, but being that Pan Am was my all-time fave airline, this is/was a "dream come true" livery ... I actually liked the KAL colors but since they only operated the 747-8F it would have been less appealing.

Love the discoloration of the exhaust cone … looks like Brad got a hold of GE's paint spec for that component

Who's "wasting" anyone's time? He's getting paid a handsome sum for a commission, and it's my prerogative what I choose for him to build.

As for WHY I chose this livery, I don't care for Lufthansa's "eurowhite", and therefore am left with little choice (other than Boeing house colors). Therefore, I decided to "have a little fun" and have my favorite airline of all-time rendered on its exterior.

Any objections to THAT reasoning?

Exactly... which is why his efforts are best directed toward models of respectable and historical 1:1 substance. Of course, I don't fault Brad, I fault the commissioner of this bastardized, fictional subject: all eyes are on you, M1.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. One man's art is another's rubbish. I honestly don't care what YOU think ... your immature attack on how I spend MY money is really not MY concern. Besides ... if Brad thought it was "unbecoming" and "demeaning" of him to take on and PUBLICIZE this commission, he could have easily DECLINED my request. So why don't you start directing your JUVENILE rant towards him as well?

Nope. I consistently jogwalk 4 to 5 miles per day with our dog … so my butt's in pretty good condition ... thank you for your concern.

You're welcome!

C'mon M1, lighten up. I'm just bustin' your chops. That's totally cool if you like fantasy models. They aren't my thing, but I can appreciate them. I know you're gonna be proud to add this model to your collection! Don't let my dicking with you ruin that.

Those looks sick! Can't wait to see the finished product. If only it wasn't a fanta... nevermind.

Hey Mikey … I think you're probably a cool "kid" but sometimes it's hard to tell where you're really coming from … especially in an online environment. Maybe others know you're just out to razz people, but we've had this conversation before, and it's not easy to tell. So if you were being facetious, then I accept your explanation … on another note Brad and I did have a discussion about doing the Korean Air cargo conversion, but I wanted to keep the windows in and the hump long.

As far as the engines … I'm again "speechless" … WOW!!!
